Well, I think neither James or Michael are geeky, it's just the part of Daniel Jackson and in my opinion they both did or rather do (related to Mike) a great job, it's just I prefer Michael playing Daniel...

as i love james spader, his daniel was the first, and made me sweat,

Michael Shanks really took that role and ran with it, he is now the consumate Daniel Jackson.

but like i say, I love both actors, so, really i can't make up my mind lol

James Spader does nothing for me.
And I am sooooo glad they changed the character a bit for the series (and Jacks char too). Daniel was such a drip in the film! I couldnt watch all that sneezing every week! And Kurts version of Jack was such a macho braindead moron! (sorry if I'm offending anyway, just my opinion).
To be honest the idea behind the film was facsinating but I didnt really like the film at all. I've never even bothered to watch it a second time, I dont really relate to the film as anything to do with the series.

I'm glad they changed Jack's character for the series too but I think they didn't change Danny much for the first season...but after Michael got his haircut and then 'owned' the part of Daniel Jackson they also changed Danny and I love it!!!
He's not that little geeky-boy anymore...
I loved the characters of the movie but they wouldn't have fit into a tv series...there just HAD to be some changes...
And the new Danny is....georgous....

They let both actors work on enhancing their characters... letting them grow with the environment and experiences. Something a lot of chows won't touch.

I think both 'men' are the better for it.

Abydos and I were discussing, very off topic at this moment, surviving GateCon2001 [this year's Stargate convention last September in Vancouver BC] and the upcoming on next year: Gatecon 2002.

I was a volunteer the first year and staff this last one. I was told I'll be staff next year unless I can produce a noterized 'Death Certificate' at least three weeks before the con. :
