I was about to say something similar. The new film abandoned the beautiful aesthetic of the first, which would have only been easier to reproduce with modern technology.
 
As much as I like the first film , I liked the sequel better in terms of ascetics and storyline,
 
I love this movie, but not so much the sequel. I used to want to watch this on acid or something.
