you know i just can't see george takei as a captain, i always see him as the helmsman of the enterprise, you always knew the ship was in good hands when he was
in the "driving" seat...peachy
 
Do you remember that TOS episode when he went mad.. and started running around with that sword..... Guys a bloody nutter.... LOL

hehe...back to starships...

One thing that always bothered me on ST---I always felt the starships looked out of proportion when they were shown landed on a planet. I mean they always looked impressive in space dock and warping through space and orbiting planets, but when they were actually shown landed, they looked ridiculously small.

In particular, I remember watching an episode of VOY where Janeway is standing with VOY in the not so distant background. It didn't look much bigger than a standard airplane, but we're supposed to believe that it contains so many crew quarters, the bridge, 'mess hall', holodecks, engineering, cargo bays, shuttle bays, astrometrics, sick bay, various labs, etc. etc.

Can someone explain it to me? Is it just me? Is it the limited budget for effects,or what?

I saw this episode.. and i thought exactly the same thing... Looked silly...
 
Generally i am impressed with the ships but sometimes they let us down and think we will not notice.... But we do....
