i only started to watch the show because of jerry i kept watching until it moved to the scifi channel but i didn't have it until it was over-bastards!-anyway as much as i loved remy and maggie it really did suck after quinn left-sorry to say it but there you are.

could someone explain to me what happened to Quinn. I missed the crucial episode...

I understand the original actor Jerry something? left the show to become a movie star so they had to replace him, but what the heck happened??

On a slide he was merged into this other guy who became the new "Quinn". Part of quinn was in him for a while but as the show went on the original Quinn fizzled out completely. Diana was supossed to save the original quinn and seperate them but she didn't know how. She hadn't known the plan of the guy in charge of the project in the first place. and so after they got rid of him although he returns in a later ep, there was really no way for here to fix th Quinn merged dillemma. wich I was angry when he left the show still am. It was a good show. I can't believe he left the show to do movies. he could have done both!

Hi!
I loved Sliders, but I stopped watching it cos it turned out to be not as good as it used to be in the beginning...
So: the same here
greetings
:rolly2:

Yeah, I was shocked when the prof was killed, then Wade was gone...and then the show seemed to become more and more confuse...(if that's an eglish word...)
:(
One season later I stopped watching it...

yeah thats pretty much when i lost interest, i've seen odd episodes of the later stuff, but i totally lost track of it...

at least when wade and remmy were still in it together, they had some emotional support for each other, the new peoples didnt know what they had been through together...

i dont think theres anyone out there who preferred the new cast...

The new cast wasn't as bad as most people make them out.

No they definetly where not the original and do not measure up to them. However that is not their fault. There was a lot of potential with all the characters, especially Diana who I really did like.

Unfortunately the producers, writers did not make use of this potential. They ruined a lot of the inner working of the relationships.

Wade and Remmy were the 2 people who supported each other as not being techinical minded people.

The Professor was Quinn's mentor which meant Quinn looked up to him, tried to impress him and tried to outdo him all at the same time.

Then there is the relationship between Quinn and Wade.

When they added Maggie they added tension to the Quinn, Wade relationship. Something which could have added to the show, except they always seemed to come down with Maggie beating out Wade. I always liked Wade and had a problem with this.

As for the other new cast added later they each had much their characters could have added. I think the main problem was the writers and the producers.

Yeah, I think you're right. Of course nobody likes it when a crew you really know gets replaced by someone else.
But there are many series in which it worked. I also think it was a big mistake that Maggie seemed to beat out Wade in the very beginning of her addition to the show.
I would prefer it to get used to a new character and then they can add some troubles about the character aso
In many series the whole cast was exchanged one on one and it didn't annoy me...
It's strange that almost nobody seems to like the new cast in Sliders, so I suppose you're right...

:D

I agree that nothing can compare to the original cast. You are correct when you say there was a chemistry there that seemed lost.

But the chemistry between characters is partly the actors, partly the writing and partly the way it is produced.

I think the big problem with the later cast was the writing and the way it was produced.

Originally I didn't see it until the episodes where the professor was all ready gone. Watching the later episodes first I really liked some of the cast. It wasn't until later when I saw them all from the beginning that I realized the difference in chemistry and the way the show had lost it's original focus.

Still of the later characters I liked the one of Diane best and thought her character had potential, if they had taken advantage of it that is.

I think the new Sliders lost many things and that the original cast was the best.
But I also think the series show signs of go down the hill since the Professor die.
So I think like Mellian is wasn't the actors fault more I think was a problem with
how you manage the show and write the storylines. I personally enjoy the new
characters, both of them(new Quinn and Diane). And the actors for me wasn't bad
actors. But I tend to see per example the new Quinn as a different character because
is I have to try to compare him with the original, he will fail completely. But as a new
character he wasn't that bad. As I say before he was totally a different direction from
the original. Diane was also a great character her advantage was that she wasn't
compare with any other character. I also have to say that not all the new episodes
where so bad, I did enjoy the series till the end. Maybe the episodes wasn't
innovative like the first Sliders but it wasn't totally a lost.

Krystal :D
