I think any show which add charactors or changes them has the problem of them being compared to the old ones. This isn't fair to the new charactors or actors, although I admit that I have done it on other shows I watch ( for example When Star Treck Next Generation took of Dr. Crusher and put on Dr. Polaski). To often we don't give the new characters a chance, ( I admit to being guilty of this). However a majority of the time the new characters are just as good but in a different way than the original if we just give them the chance.

i think the dynamic of sliders is different to trek though, as they jsut have 4 characters, so replaceing 3 of them will totally alter the show. Trek tends to have up to 12 main characters, so one or two new faces or replacements can fit in more easily and add to the show..

It would make a difference. But on Sliders they didn't replace them all at once so the change should not be to dramatic.
It makes me think of Earth Final Conflict where they started out with Boon, Lili, Augur, Doors, Sandoval, Da'an and Zo'or. They have gotten rid of Boone, Lili is pretty much gone and you hardly ever see Augur. They now have Liam, Renee and Street to go with Sandoval, Da'an and Zo'or. That did change the dynamics of the show but the characters themselves are still good characters once you gave them a chance instead of being upset because they took off your favorites (I speak from personal experience here).

yeah I agree with you re EFC, but in that case there was still a core of the same characters as the Taelons and Sandoval remained the same characters, so the different people on the other side are still fighting againgst the same thing. With Sliders the orignal cast were together for a few seasons (not sure exactly) and then we lost the Prof, then Quinn, then Wade, each being replaced..

I honestly haven't seen much of the later episodes, they don't seem to have been on in the UK, or I haven't spotted them.. I just ran a search through my listings guide and there is no Sliders on at all in the UK at the moment, not even repeats..

totally..

Which Quinn?

The one from our dimension?
The one who thought he was from our dimension, but was sent here from another one as a child?
The one who knew he wasn't, and didn't look like the first, and was merged with the other one?
The one who was from another dimension, but looked like the first one?
The merged together Quinn, who didn't look like the first?
The Mighty Quinn, the eskimo?
Someone else entirely?

Good question, which Quinn indeed? After all the submerged Quinn and the original didn't look alike.

Who's crying anyway? This is a mature intelligent discussion, about the artistic merits of a superb contribution to the narrative works of mankind.

yeah totally. It was a cool series, wheres the harm in chatting about it after it's gone... we still talk plenty about TNG and loads of other stuff thats off the air..

Jerry O'Connell leaves and his Quinn is replaced by a different Quinn from an alternative reality, who doesn't look like him. Both Quinns are accidently merged together into one being which looks like the second version. They spend the remaining episodes partly trying to separate the two Quinns. As far as the strory-plots go very little of the original Quinn's personality remains though.

I see now that you just made a typo-- lool instead of lol.

Also, is this the reason we have two Quinn/ quinn threads in this forum-- is one an alternative reality version of the other, and any plans to merge them Asmiley?

oh..................
