just to let you know sg-1 went without *anything* this year. nothing. zilch. not even a fruit basket or a voucher for planet hollywood. nada. :dead:

best tv show: buffy
best supporting actor: james marsters
best tv actor: robert Patrick
best tv actress: jessica alba
best supporting actress: jeri ryan :eek7:
best syndicated/cable tv show: farscape

the shanks bloke should definitely eat more garlic ... to keep the vampires away .... (naw. spike deserves the award. as for the rest, I prefer *not* to comment and go fishing.)

I can't believe it!

I can not believe Stargate didn't pick up any awards last night! I thought for sure Micheal or Amanda would pick up best supporting, and by far the show should have won best syndication show! I love watching Farscape but there aint no show as good as Stargate!!!! Let's get 'em next year!

What can I say <sigh> ... it's really a pity. <a big sigh> :(

I've never watched Farscape, nor do I really tune in to watch Buffy, so I can't really say Stargate's better (although it is!;) ).

Jeri Ryan for best supporting actress?
Seven or Nine is a great character, but I'd still say Sam is better.
Amanda Tapping gets to play a broader range of emotion, but who'd risk upsetting a borg!;)

Oh well....... That is a real shame for them all, but at least they got some recognition by being nominated in the first place. Though its not like they didn't deserve it I'm sure.

Saw Seven of Nine in 'Voyager' last night. Considering only I watch 'Trek' when I can: Weird woman indeed.

Silly question, but I'm guessing the Saturn Awards is based in America?
I've actually never heard of them. Is that because they not that important or simply because I live in the UK, so this sort of news doesn't really reach us? (Only through Sci-fi mags for example?)
It seems a shame that UK doesn't really award Scifi, but then again, the UK doesn't really make any.
:(

I can't believe stargate didn't get any thing :disgust: :angryfire :disgust:

saturn awards

no silly question at all, nicola. yeah, the saturn awards grow on american ground, handed out by the academy of science fiction, fantasy & horror films.

it is important in it's own genre, of course we're not talking academy awards or emmys or whatever here, but it *does* mean something to get the thing.

let me be catty for a couple of line: like every award, the price does not go out without a bit of calculation. buffy swapped from warner to paramount, so it needed a bit of a push (specially as warner announced this season as "the last" - pretty confusing, as it's "last for warner". or something. don't fix me down on this.)

also it's not without calculation when I say that I'd wished stargate had got some of the little fellers, it would have give the show a better stand in possible negotiations, specially with season 6 in limbo and upcoming movie plans. (dang. they could have *at least* given one award to rda!)

ah well, new year (hopefully), new chance (most definitely). ;)

yeah, we should give out awards as well - like the annual catweazle award or something! ;)

course it might have helped had mgm like acknowledged they even make the show....they just ignore it adn expect it to do stellar...when you consider the total lack of publicity...it does fantastic.
i mean trek gets front pages of tv guide, so does buffy....farscape has sci-fi pushing it...x-files is a given

the show manages to pull 5th place in syndicated shows without support, imagine how it'd cook if mgm actually promoted it.

and with all due respect to jeri ryan, who i am sure is a fine actress...in my humble opinion her winning had more to do with her size 4 catsuit adn who her squeeze is(big wig with trek if i've heard right)

sometimes it's not what you do but who you know

Ooooo catty!;)

Yeh, I've noticed that Stargate hardly ever gets any promotion, at least here in the UK.
Channel4 only air it these days during kids holidays along with SisterSister - and other cartoons/dramas there try to aim at a teenage/young adult audience.
SkyOne does frequently show adverts for Stargate(and Voyager) as part of the Monday Night line up, but thats about it.:(

As for Buffy... well lets just say if I saw the advert for the season finale one more time, I think my tv screen would have been met with a hammer through it! (not that I have anything again the show of course, just seeing the same adverts over and over and over again!):D

Nicola

Buffy is cool, Farscape is cool, so, well, if Stargate wasn't gonna win I'm glad something OTHER than Trek won, at least. It's too bad but not surprising.

I don't care how small the award is, it's nice to have and certainly would have been more than deserved. I am a Buffy fan, so I wasn't too sad to see the show or James Marsters win, but I have a real problem with Jessica Alba, Robert Patrick and Jeri Ryan. What were those people thinking? Stargate was robbed!

ooh good news there!! Buffy Won :D and Spike got best supporting actor

in fact i like all of the shows/people who won

does seem like SG1 got overlooked though :(

I'm sorry Stargate didn't win anything. :crying: I think Danny did a superb job this season. 7 of 9 won mainly because of who she's with and her sized double Ds.

I've watched Buffy and Angel a few times over the years, and they're awful! Just too stupid, though I do like Buffy's fighting style. Dark Angel is another God-awful show.

You know, not to rant or anything, but I am soooo sick and tired of these new shows that feature only teens and 20-somethings. There's a whole world of 30+ folks out there who'd like to work and are just as good at it!

Just my 2 cents.

Agree totally. Which is one reason I like Stargate. No teen angst.

quit Buffy bashing :(

I like both Buffy and SG-1, they're very different though...

I have noticed that Stargate is really the least promoted of the 10 Sharp shows that has. Even the Chris Issac show is promoted much more heavily. MGM is not a helper either!

teen scream queens ...

I watch buffy every other month, and I really like angel. so no bashing from my side, and james marsters sure deserved an award (he's the only one on the winner's list I agree. though I think that particular saturn award would have also looked nice on somebody else's window sill, but ok ... shame though marsters was not there to collect the award).

I don't feel too bad about the invasion of the teenage mutant flirtals, though - let's face it, smg still being sold as aged 24/25, david boreanaz as being 29 and james marsters as something in this priceclass as well makes me feel SO MUCH BETTER when I cheat about *my* age .... ;) (nobody tell me any of them is under 30!!! no way jose!)

ohoh. being catty again. meow.

PS: I wonder if the quality of stargate would suffer if it was pimped from here till kingdom come by mgm just the way star trek is by paramount? would I want a jack o'neill action figure and a daniel jackson mug? sam socks? with the "masses" taking notice, would the show have to accustom to the "masses" taste? just musing ...

Hmm, I never thought of that before.
I don't think a little merchandice ever did any harm (except when you start seeing StargateToothpaste - then it's gone to far ;))
Over hype is never good.
