This Thread is for discussion pertaining to the unbelievable loyalty the Gaters (Stargate Fans) Have for the Series. For Example, What have you missed to see an episode of Stargate? Have you ever been late for work? or a date? Lets all admit how addicted we are the the best show on Televison, while we wait for the NEW (and NOT the final season I Hope!) to start...

I'll get things started, This is VERY True...

I won tickets to a comedy show inour states capitol, the tickets have a face value of 45 bucks apiece and are front row... To anyone who has seen a "Gallagher" Show, you know that front row is deffinatly the best seats... I was real happy to have one untill I looked at the tickets and realized that the show started at 8p.m. on (you guessed it) Friday, June 29th... needless to say, I gave the tickets away, and I told everyone that i didn't want to go to see the show, even though I have always wanted to see him live... if they only knew the real reason... LOL :alienooh:

Hi, {ACA} Ma'tec,

I love your thread! This is a great idea to post in Stargate Discussion Area! It Might be moved so please do not get upset as it will be placed in the most appropriate viewing area! I am dying to see responses to this thread!

I, of course, think you are absolutely mad to miss the Comedy show except.... it is for THE season premier.... well... that should be a goodie this Friday.... Hope you are having a party and are watching with family and friends to make missing the live comedy show more tolerable. What an awful choice to have to make! I think my response is the minority opinion and I am going to check back to make sure!

As a Mother I insist my son gets sleep but as a gatejunkie well. Here is my sad story!
I try and tape the new season as it happens and my son, Asgard and I watch together. When I was trying to catch up on Season Two tapes I used to sneak into the Family Room (my son sleeps off the family room downstairs) and tape but the sound often woke my son... and he would curl up on the couch next to me and watch as I taped (I still can't work his machine via the three remotes and he refuses to show me although now he will set the tape for me) because his TV in the Family room is digital cable and mine is simply regular cable.
I am still arguing with Asgard about taping Urgo.... I want he does not!

LOVE YOU SILER AVATAR!

Great topic Ma'tec!!!

Gee, there are so many tall tales that I tell to cover my Stargate craving.
More often then not, I cut off any method people have to contact me (disconnect phone, put mobile on divert, take batteries out of doorbell, close all curtains, lock the cat out....)

Now, this sort of action would be okay...if I lived alone! I actually live with 3 other people, and I don't explain why I do these crazy things.
At least my boyfriend knows I'm slight mental, but I haven't told him why I can never come out (or he can't come around) during the hours of 9-10 on a Wednesday night :D
He just doesn't like Scifi - and he'd talk all the way through it!

OKay, I'm sure someone can top that!

I do all of that as well apart from I get and lock the cat in...otherwise she scratches at the door!!!!;)

I am really lucky as I only live with my mum at the moment (and she loves SG1) I don't have ot worry about upseting anyone.

But I have never had to do anything drastic to watch Stargate...well not yet anyway:p

Pam

well - i haven't had to do anything terribly drastic to watch Stargate -- b/c i was always scheduled to work on friday nights - i'd just skip taping any other program (this was b4 the digital boxes would set vcr remiders) and set the vcr to tape stargate -

so - the most i've done is miss other shows i wanted to tape to tape stargate instead -- paying for those extra channels - i'm gonna get stargate!!

Highlander II

I guess the most extreme thing I've done is to set up 3 vcrs all taping Small Victories 'cause I was out of the state for it.... In fact I always set up at least 2 of them for every episode, just in case. But thank god for vcrs, cause if they didn't exist, I woulnd't have any social life on Fridays at all!

I agree shiloh! Without VCR's life would be a lot more complicated....and nothing would happen on Friday night.... for you young folk anyway..... Us old folk stay home and tape shows with the kid and pat the dogs and cats.

Aww, that sounds really sweet and comfortable!

If you're up for a night out, send me a Pm next time you're in the North East of England!
Newcastle was voted 9th best night spot in the world last year!
I'm 21, and even I find it tiring!!!

Well its alright for some:rolly2: :D ;)

Try living where I do....nothing goes on ever its so boring.
Its just as well I have Stargate to keep me busy:p

I'll take you out too Pamie! There's some wild places that even I don't touch!

As for recording to VCR, I only attempt to set it up in my room.
I have one of them VCR's that a so advanced they do everything but talk to you and set the GMT time!

I have most of season2 on vid, but I've bought series one and the start of three.

Oh man, i think the question should more what won't i do for stargate!

I live my mom and sisters currently and, while i have converted the majority to be stargate fans, they aren't diehard. so they talk during the show, they get up and stand in front of the tv during the show, they talk loudly on the phone during the show, Urgh! the list goes on. so, me finely smarting up, i bought my own tv and paid for the cable hookup and everything. and then their tv broke and they 'borrowed' mine. i didn't get it back for nearly a year. but before that i use to get a great number of small aerodynamic objects and amass them at my side on the couch. then, when someone talked or blocked my view i'd just chuck something at them 'til they ceased such annoying behavior. :rolly2: things got better after that.
then one time i was out of town on a business trip (coincidently the exact same date of a stargate premier after their midseason break). i had my sisters set a tape for it--threatening severe death for any forgetfulness. then i called them up and had them walk me through it scene by scene and even hold the phone up to the speakers for some parts. not the best way to go about things, but i was desperate.
anyhow, those are just a few of the the long list, maybe i'll be back with more. but then again why advertise my insanity. my sibs already make fun of me.:D

The VCR is a blessed invention, isn't it?! I prefer to watch it as it airs, but I do have to have a life!

I typically don't let TV rule my life, but have been known to growl at my roommate if she dares to attempt conversation Friday nights between 9 and 10. I also turn off the ringer on my phone. Even if I never intend to pick the stupid thing up during the show, I just don't like the distraction...

LOL:D :D :D

Don't worry I think we are all a little insane when it comes to Stargate (well I am!)

Some said Ma'tec should have a great big ol' party for the premier.... Hey, Toby, want me and Geekman to drop down by ya? :D (ps, I didn't know he was gonna be in Madison...where at, the Brown County Colleseum?)

I'm one of the lucky ones. I have my own digi cable, tv, and vcr so I can sit in silence and watch. But for added security, I lock my door and shut down the computer. Don't want any outside disturbances. If it is a warm day, I close my windows, because there is always a ton of noisy people across the street from me. Stereo goes off (isn't hooked up to tv sadly). Overhead fan is turned off (it's too noisy). If it is repeat, all the appliances are shut off (stereo, compy, fan) but I'm not obsessive about the rest.... unless it was a GOOOOOOOOOD episode (aren't a lot of those from season 4, but I'll take what I can get)

Oh, do you want me to mention that I watch the episode that runs in sndication both times? The 5 pm showing, and the 2:35 am showing?

I wish I had sky in my room and a huge TV, my mum won't let me, I did once but everyone argues as to whats gonna be on, my mum has it in her room though, not fair :(
I always trust one VCR when it comes to tapping Stargate, and that is my mums old one upstairs, I don't understand the new one downstairs and my dad has missed a few eps because he tapped the wrong channel :(
I always make sure to at least to try not to work on Wednesdays and to always be there. I sit on the seatee in the same place as always, next to my dad and ickle bro (they're avid Stargate fans too), only the three of us in the room, the light turned off, the curtains drawn, and the sound up high. My sis and mum always leave when its stargate time :D We only leave to go to the toilet at commercial breaks, oyu have to holdd it in till the break comes :D
This is how I watch Stargate, it has become a sorta ritual now, but I have to wait till sept for the ritual to begin again :D

Let's see, what's I'd do to see Stargate. Well I watched my first Stargate episode only this past March, I bought season 1 on DVD when it finally came out on May 22 in Canada & watched the entire season 1 within 2 or 3 days of buying it & then was up evey night until 4:30 am downloading & watching seasons 2-4. So Basically I cought up four years of show in one month.
