If I had a web cam I'd show you my cube at home... it's a pic/poster farm. Gate, Bab-5, NASA, my SETI stuff, RDA and MS pics, stuff from the dig and Space Camp and a large chunk of my patch collection.

Patches. Mostly NASA and SF-TV/Movie - some military. Right now there S:AAB, A TS 'Jags', SG-1, "Armageddeon", "Escape From Mars", "Outland" and a scattering of NASA, Gilf War and Space Camp stuff. I'm easy to please like that.

tahts what I mean by too many toys. Web cam, vid cam, digital still cam, home theater, dvd, 40Gig HD, CDRW drive, firewire card, and a car. I've bought them all this past year. I've no restraint because I'm supposedly have a real job.

When I went places as a child I collected the little pins. The tie-tack type.

Yah, I want'ed thoses SAAB patches. They were nifty. Chickened out of paying the entry fee to a con in downtown Chicago that year.

I've been slowly collecting from a couple of dealers I know. ow have the 58th Squadron, The Wildcards and the USS Saratoga - US Navy Space Medical Corps.

I keep threatening to put the last one and a couple of Army Medical ones on a white jumpsuit with fluro. orange stripes I have [I used to do Red Cross Fire Relief. If someone/ones had a fire and were displaced, I was the one who when out and got them food and clothing vouchers, temp shelter, that sort of thing] for a Con.

That and a stethy and I'm back in my comfort zone.

I'm facinated by patch makeing. I think I might have to try it. Presently, the MGM web store is lacking the SG-1 designation patch.

I have some felt from the office give away this spring. Drat. I don't think it's black, tho. Another trouble is my sewing machine is not doing zig-zag stitch. This might be the excuse to go get a mini-machine and alot of silver thread.

Any requests for patches on red or yellow felt? I dont recall any from the show OTTOMH.

Oh, Lord. There are times I sit and wonder what the hell I've done with my life and feel like there's nothing. And then I sit and really think.

30+ years of emergency and ICU medicine in every form [mil. and civ.] 21+ years in the Army [active and reserve] and made E-8/Master Sergeant at 15 years just before deploying to Desert Storm {Rhyaidh, SA and north} with an assignment change from have 14 people under me to 375 {I became the second NCO in the Depart of Nursing for a 1000 bed hospital unit}, scuba diving, rock climbing, river running, music [playing, writing, singing] and instrument I can get my hands on except brass - can't play brass, the SCA and all the things one can learn from the middle ages in the Arts Gentle and Martial - even fighting in heavy armor like a Knight - for 20 years, Space Camp, the dig last year, going down to the Star Trek set in 1968 and visinting for 2 days, Issinryu Karate, getting shot and shooting someone [an Army thing - war does that], writing and getting published, having the Army send me odd and sometimes interesting places, living in a one room cabin in the woods hauling water and using kerosene while taking care of a new born, jumping out of airplanes {while they were still working...}, becoming a staff member at GateCon this year, having VA tell me 6 years ago I was not 100% broken from Desert Storm and can't work [A big thing for me to deal with].

And I know I'm no where deep beneath the surface. I've been increadable lucky [in some wasy] because I have been given the chance to do so much.

And you've probably done a lot more than you think you have, if you really look at it. Make a list sometime. It's scary.

But it's fun.

Sorry to vent in this thread. Not the right place. I got really worked up. I need my head showered.

Sure I could make a list of things I've done, but never compare to saving lives and stuff. That's someting I've never been brave enough to do...

As hard as it's been to imagine 32 years of stuff. Looking ahead to another twenty is daunting. I want my life to be even better.

I keep coming back to Urgo's line that's a sig quote around here. I want to have fun, I want to explore the universe, I want to eat pie. I think the part that's left out is that we make the pie.
