I use that tactic every time we're in town and it's onto SG videos.
"If you want to see series 3 before me, go ahead, buy the video!"
She generally shuts up after that, because she can't be bothered to save the money. I, on the other hand, save money through lack of a social life.
But at other times she can't let the subject drop. I might get lucky, because she doesn't even know that the book exists, and then all I have to do is insist that she wouldn't be interested in what I'd bought.
The best bet!? Act sneaky! :upto:

Thanks for the idea! ;) :D

My pleasure!
I have a degree in evilness specialising in the art of sneakiness!:up to:

I just got an email from Amazon saying my book is on it's way. The only problem is that there are now 3 different threads about this book here in 3 different places, and it seems everyone already has theirs.:( :( :(

I received an email yesterday (10/09) that finally the SG1 book had arrived in store. Picking it up tomorrow(12/09), can't wait. This was from Waterstones.

annette :)

I neglected to say it arrived, and I'm busy reading it. It only covers Seasons 1 & 2, with 3,4 & 5 out next year. It's very good, especially the pictures, quotes, character stuff and intoduction from Brad Wright

Well, having seen other tie-in feature books, I was quite disappointed. There is only a double spread per episode, quite a small physical size of book, and all the photos are in black and white, though many are high quality. But, I can't deny that the book is crammed full of inside stories, views and annecdotes.

This is the only tie-in book I own. I was impressed, if I'm missing out on something, then I'd be interested as to what. I don't have an in-depth interest in many other shows, but after seeing the number of books around for other shows, I don't think this one was all that bad.

Oh, and nic. I got it. My *family* don't know I have it, let alone my sis. And what they don't know.........

I'm making it sound positivly illegal here!

Hehe:D

Tie-in books for other series often will have colour pictures (not always, but it does call itself 'The Illustrated Companion'), an index? a dictionary/ encyclopedic bit? More technical stuff -- like how does a Stargate work?

I like it, but it could be much better.
