How to bring back Kirk!

What would be your favourite plot to bring back William Shatner as Captain Kirk?

(1) Q brings him back just to annoy Picard some more.

(2) Vorgon criminals from the 27th Century arrive on Veridian via time travel moments before he dies and kidnap him.

(3) SS Enterprise NX-01 runs into the Nexus energy ribbon and Captain Archer releases Kirk, Picard and Tollian Soran a little earlier.

(4) Spock takes Kirks body to the Genesis planet to return the favour.

(5) Kirks body is dug up and injected with a massive dose of altered Borg Nano-probes.

(6) His body is dug up and taken through the Bajoran wormhole, where he becomes a Prophet, just to annoy The Sisko.

(7) Tom Paris writes him into Holo-program as Captain Proton's new sidekick.

(8) 'Generations' only exists in an alternative timeline, and he never really died at all.

(9) The mirror-universe Kirk crosses over to ours again.

hmm a bit OT for the TOS forum, but i wonder if he's still there?? Since the Roms have gotten more friendly with the Federation at the end of DS9, maybe he his hopes for reunification would be mroe likely now??

Re: Spock.

It would be nice if he was to be one of the guest stars in ST:X, but I think it is unlikely. I just read a recent interview, and he is very busy (for a man is age) with writing books mainly, he doesn't even think he will ever direct a movie again.

well he doesnt need to direct it, just show his face for 1/2 hr to chat with his old buddy Picard, and possibly get his butt phasered away if he wants trek closure.... :D

That's about all we would get.

But, films are complicated to make, actors often have to keep going back to re-film sequences. It would be different if a TV series in his era was still running.

hmmm.. just had a thought... how old was Spock in TOS?? Maybe he was alive in 2150, and could show up on "Enterprise" :D

He would look a bit old considering how he looked on TOS though ;)

Nice idea, but unfortunately he is not supposed to have been born until 2230.

His parents Sarek and Amanda were not married until 2229, plus he says that he served for 11 years with Pike before Kirk, and the Enterprise was his first posting.

I was going to say he might be a gleam in Sarek's eye, but it would be a very small one because Sarek wasn't born until 2165.

let's not forget...

Any of the ST characters could pop up on 'Enterprise'-----damn the timeline!! Just throw in one of those handy-dandy solves-it-all time travel storylines.

BTW, Leonard Nimoy was born in 1931, which makes him 70 years old this year.

wow, 70!!

Hey, i was thinking they can mow use computer effects to bring back dead actors to life etc, so they could also insert a young looking Spock or whoever into the new show (if they can afford the cost of this effect!).

Shame he isnt born yet :(

I predict that we will see his Grandfather, if not a very young Sarek as well, at some point in the run of 'Enterprise'. That is too good a plotline for them to avoid it.

Yes, I was thinking of the 'ancestor' appearances, too.

I suppose it would be possible for Leonard Nimoy, for example, to make an appearance as one of Spock's ancestors, rather than Spock himself---that wouldn't interfere with the timeline.

Jerri Ryan told the Ventura County Star she would be willing to appear as Seven of Nine's ancestor on Enterprise.

"If my schedule allowed it and Brannon (Braga) wrote it, I would consider it," she told the US Newspaper.

OH NO! They should have called the new series Star Trek: Grandparents. There are going to be so many knocking around in it!

ST:Grandparents!
that's funny!

tho it would be interesting for some 'ancestors' to show up - not too many, or it becomes terribly cliche ---

but Spock's ancestors would be cool! (i LOVE Spock!)

and we could have a McCoy show up -- wouldn't be our beloved DeForrest Kelley, but could still be a relative -- Sulu's daughter was in ST:Generations --

I just found this:

BRING BACK KIRK CAMPAIGN TO BE FEATURED ON POPULAR BRITISH MORNING SHOW.

The Bring Back Kirk campaign, one of the largest current Trek fan movements,
will be appearing on the British morning show The Big Breakfast. Jason
Turner, the UK Official, will be representing the campaign in a competition
on the show on January 31, 2002. The Big Breakfast is one of three morning
shows on British television, with a potential audience of 1-2 million people,
or approximately the same number that tuned in to see the Enterprise episode
Broken Bow when it premiered in the UK a few weeks ago.

On the show, Turner will compete in a series of games for the patronage of
Richard Bacon, one of the hosts of the show. If Bring Back Kirk wins, Bacon
will become a top supporter of the campaign, helping it get exposure
throughout the United Kingdom as well as the US.

In addition to competing in the various games, Turner will be given
approximately 30 seconds to speak on the campaign to the audience. The
winner of the contest will be decided by the viewing audience.

The Bring Back Kirk campaign is fan operated and dedicated to the return of
James T. Kirk in Trek canon, be it in a Trek movie, a guest appearance on
Enterprise, or any other appearance that would rectify Kirk's death in
Generations and give him a happy ending. William Shatner has said he would
be willing to return on many occasions.

This television appearance is not the first time the campaign has received
public exposure. Last year, at the 35th anniversary Grand Slam Convention,
Creation Entertainment broadcast the campaign's highly acclaimed trailer,
which gave the fans an exciting insight as to how the return of Kirk might
look.

More information on the Bring Back Kirk campaign can be found at
www.bringbackkirk.com or by e-mailing OFFICIALS@BRINGBACKKIRK.COM.
Information on the Big Breakfast can be found at
http://bigbreakfast.channel4.com/.

I never watch the programme, but it will give his campaign big exposure. Only probably not exposure among anyone who could care less about it. It's people like this who make everyone else think Trek fans are complete Nerds!

i have a question - and don't get me wrong - Kirk was an important part of Trek canon - but - why would they want to just randomly bring him back? what purpose would it serve and what would he do?

he can't really show up on Enterprise -- can he? (i've forgotten when Enterprise takes place -sorry) and for him to show up in another movie? uh - he's dead, right? doesn't make much sense, unless he comes in as a ghost and tells everyone he's okay and happy or something ---

yeah - maybe --

personally - i'd like to see some of McCoy's ancestors --
hey - we could even see ancestors of the TNG and DS9 groups --

anything's possible --- and i think Dax would probably be the most likely -- how old is the Dax symbiote???
