Gemmell's Drenai series

"his thinnly disguised use of historical events"?

I think thats a strenght of his cause it makes the books more realistic.

theres something that im not sure about but mabey this is cause i havent read all of the drenai saga and it might have already happened but in waylander the armor of bronze comes with two swords but in legend there is only one. where did the other one dissapear to. its not wise to leave sharp things just lying about.

To be honest with you Pdycassidy, its something thats come up in other area's. Perhaps the only answer would be that when Egel and Dardalion looked into the future they saw that Regnak would become the Earl of Bronze and that he weilded a longsword so that the two blades were melded into one.

Probably a stretch but it seems the most plausable conclussion.

Guess im 2 years late to jump into this thread, but bah, I just started reading the Drenai series and love David Gemmell's work all of it (tho im not even a 1/4 of the way through all his books) and note i never read before i picked up The Last Sword of Power by Gemmell randomly during work.

The armor of bronze isn't magical really, the reasons its so important is because its a rallying point for the Drenai soliders its more of a symbol than being praticle in battle.

Also Skilgannon is so cool, I also like Decado, Waylander and for some odd reason I thot Jonat was pretty cool pitty he was only in the first book (since ive only started reading the series will prob find better characters). Btw Chronology Waylander is the first book (although since this was 2 years ago me saying that won't count) but it really doesn't matter where u start since i started off with White Wolf then Swords of Night and Day.
