Janeway Admiral before Picard??

Let's see here. In JUST films we have seen Picard save Earth from the Borg. He did this with just his one starship. Plus time travel was involved, so the odds were against him all the way.
Next we see Picard and part of his crew save a civilization called the Baku using text book Federation standards. Picard follows the Prime Directive so closely that HE has to tell the Federation when THERE wrong. Talk about a true leader. Picard tells Admirals there wrong, plain and simple. And he's right.

Then there is Janeway. This lady gets promoted to Admiral before Picard for doing what? She got her crew home. Nice job lady, but I think episodes like "The Hunt" prove that if certain people hadn't taken matters into there own hands, that nice little ship would never had made it back.

So this lady makes questionable decisions. In some cases she is true to the Prime Directive like Picard, other times she is not. Really not. Most episodes of VOY had to do with her basically sticking her nose where it didn't belong. Her persistance to follow a man accused of guilt ended up getting him killed. If she had just backed off, he woul have lived.

How about Unimatrix Zero? Is it any of her damn concern if the Borg have there "dream world" taken away? No it's not, but let's get involved with other species and put the whole crew at risk to save a bunch of people already assimilated.

So who is Admiral first? Looks like in Nemesis Janeway will be. Not only will this crazy woman who uses Federation standardsonly when it suits her become admiral, she will also be giving ADVICE to our Captain Picard!

Sorry but when Jean Luc Picard calls up Catherine Janeway asking for advice, I'll personally hurl.

I sure wish Jeri Ryan would have been available for the guest spot in the upcoming movie. Some action between her and the newly widowed Worf would have been cool.

lol, luckily your first paragraph solves the problem:

Picard tells Admirals there wrong, plain and simple. And he's right.

and

SPOILER VOYAGER FINAL EPISODE

Janeway doing that? nice ending (a bit of a surprise) but stil... likely? and someone that bitter really becoming an admiral? A bit ironic that Harry Kim was trying to stop her when he and Chakotay did almost the same thing in a previous episode (where voyager is stuck in the ice).

Well i admit it seems that Janeway got in rather easily but i like janeway so i don't really mind...LOL;) :D

And Padder's thats true! It was ironic...

u all janeway fans i see...... mmmmmm anyone like picard

yeah i like picard as well neo, but janeway has such a strong
charactor, and it's good to see a bit of girl power:D ..peachy:D

I also liked Janeway (although not so sure i liked Admiral Janeway) :) Picard was also very cool, as was Sisko. Not sure which i liked the most though ...

i am all for girl power... but to get to be an admiral b4 picard........... not on

i think she deserves it, couldn't have been easy for her stuck
out in the delta quadrant all alone, with neelix on board:D
besides we don't know what else she achieved once back
in the alpha quadrant [she was a good bit older when she went
back to help herself]...peachy:D

yeah Janeway does say that she meets the Borg a few more times and comes up with technology and stratregies that work in defeating them, for all we know the cool armour thing was her idea, maybe that's why she got to be admiral.

Also that was set in the future so Picard was probably an Admiral too, if not retired.

But accusing her of breaking the prime directive for the Unimatrix zero thing is just plain unfair. The Borg aren't a species, they're a whole collection of species, including humans. helping them, liberting them from a fate worse than death has to be a commendable thing. And unless you've forgetton Picard wasn't exactly a saint either when it comes to the Borg.

with the Equinox she couldn't possibly have known how that was gonna turn out. But she was trying to punish a guilty crew, one who had used and horribly killed innocents so they could get home quicker. She had to stop them, otherwise more lives were gonna be lost.

And as far as i can remember, feel free to correct me if i'm wrong, she had a good reason for breaking the prime directive each time.

probably but if you can break it when you want it is hardly a directive but a "guiding suggestion to following if you feel like it" :)

after the last episode you can understand why that temporal person guy was so upset about janeway. Though of course it is a bit weird that they let Janeway go back in time to rescue her self and this is ok but when the end up on Earth in the past someone comes to correct the mistake.

Well said padders

I'm not sure about this but I think that Picard was actually offered a promotion to Admiral at some time but turned it down. It would make sense that Janeway would jump at the chance rather than having her on missions seeing as Voyager would probably be studied for years and the crew split up. While Picard would want to continue to boldly go where no one has gone before. :D

When was Picard offered a promotion. ??? did i miss something ??? LOL

Welcome shaun....
