5.07: Beast Of Burden

great ep. a bit of action and a bit of this and that. Some great jokes especially jacks: for the record. i don't care. that was great. me thinks we could be going back to this in series six.

Definitely. And I am sure they will if there will be a season six. I mean they left so many questions there...

Yes Jack was reat but did you see how Te'alc and Sam looked at him? I almost felt pity, lol. and then he said, okay I agree...FUN!

Also liked it when Tealc went to try and help Daniel and Jack and Sam went with him.

Yeh it was great of them to come to the rescue, but one thing nagged at me.
I should probably watch the episode again, but it seemed like Teal'c just took it upon himself to go to Jack and Daniels aid.
Should he not have discussed it with Carter first before running of (leaving her shouting after him) since Carter was the one now in charge?
I just wondered if it had been Jack up their with Teal'c instead of Carter would he have acted the same?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not having ago at it, it just seemed a little off to me.
:D

i think sam was glad teal'c went after them cause if she did she'd be violating a direct order, this way she could do what she really wanted to do (go help the guys) but not get into trouble...though i don't really think she'd be in trouble if she violated an order w/jack if she had a good reason.

like I said, I probably need to watch the episode again!;) :D

I tend to like the Stargate episodes that make one really think about ethics and morality. I thought the srotyline was well done and (like everyone else) I liked the dialogue between Daniel and O'Neill.

Nic, I also thought the Teal'c/Carter exchange was a little odd. It was certainly out of character for Teal'c, IMO. It would be great if the team could pick up tomorrow's episode where they ended last week so we could see the questions/decisions/opinions (if any) regarding the mission.

I really liked this episode. I have to say season 5 is going well above my expectations each episode is as good as or better than the last. I would like to say I big thankyou to the script writers for this.

I loverd the Jack And Daniel Bannter true to form for both characters.
Also the bit about the birthday present was so funny.

Another thing I liked was Sam and Teal'c Being put in the situation together. With this you get to see the way Teal'c respects Carter for the Solider that she is.

I could watch this episode over and over again because it was so good.

sam was following her orders which was if i'm recalling correctly' stay put at the gate, see if you can get home, maintain radio silence'
theoretically that's what she was supposed to do. but that's not what t-man wanted to do...i'm thinking they were cowering in the bushes for a few hours anyway.
so he took off, sam followed. which makes sense in the look on her face when jack asked her what they were doing or someting like that....there are following orders and there are following orders.
true she didn't stay at the gate like she was supposed to...but she also didn't act further without his orders.
bout the only way it could have really hit the fan was if she or teal'c had been captured. then none of them woulda been getting birthday presents ;)

I seem to remember Jack saying to Sam something like 'I thought I told you radio silence'. I've only watched it once on a bad internet download.

i think it was 'i thought i told you to stay at the gate' to which she replied 'yes sir. but....' whatever.
she did maintain radio silence, just clicked the button when she wanted to know if it was safe to talk.

I think you're right, Sam would have been glad Teal'c went after them because she therefore wouldn't have been violating a direct order.
Thing is, when looking at it from the writing p.o.v instead of the characters, it was an easy solution just to have Teal'c run off because it ment they didn't have to write an lengthy (and time comsuming) piece about Teal'c and Sam debating if they should go violate the order, but more disappointedly it meant we didn't see any real interaction between Sam and Teal'c.
(I'm not sure if I'm making any sense here:p )
I tend to think the relationship between Sam and Teal'c doesn't get the attention that her relationships with Jack and Daniel does.
I have however always thought Teal'c has the up most respect for Sam - but when he ran off in "the beast of burden" just seemed abit off, since out of the 2 of them - Sam was the one in charge.
If I think about it, I think Sam would have come to the same conclusion as Teal'c (to go and help Jack and Sam) however, it would have taken longer for her to decide.

Did that sort of make any sense? I have a tendancy to ramble on pointlessly!:p

ramble away....i agree. would like to see more dialogue between sam and teal'c:D

I do not agree with those who say Teal'c's behaviour was out of character.
He is no militarian, and he always does what he things is the right thing.

About him making a difference between Jack and Sam: what did he do when he was in that deathglider with Te#alc, in Exodus? He did NOT follow his orders.

I think it's been typically him and just the right thing to do :D

5.07 Beast of Burden

Now this one I thought was very good.
I liked the Usas the first time round and liked his relationship with Daniel.
This one was even better...what with all the other Unas that were one the same world and all wanting freedom.

I am hoping we will one day see if Chaka managed to free his kind and see what will happen to them all.

Overall I really liked this one and liked the friendship between Danny and the Unas:D

I missed last weeks episode and also the few 10 or so mins of today so didn't quite get how it all started but I also liked the episode. Perhaps a bit too much of the dialogue was in unasian... and they only repeated the same phrase the whole time. Despite that I liked it. Interesting that it was Daniel using the military way to solve a problem (at the end) and Jack suggesting restraint...

I also missed the 'Rite of passage' episode. Sky must have shown two back to back.

This one was good. Don't have much to say about it. It was very action orientated.

Yes Sky One did show two eps back to back last week .. It wasn't that well advertised either so I guess loads of people missed it.

On the subject of "Beast of Burden". I quite liked it. It was interested to hear that Jackson had been keeping tabs on the Unas' planet and following there social structure and behaviour. To me this added more of a relationship between the characters.

I raised a smile quite a few times when the Unas started communicating with them. I'm still unsure on the outcome - it was almost like Daniel and Jack swopped personalities.

I think I tend to agree with O'Neills perspective though - in that we shouldn't be giving the Unas advanced technology. How can earth dictate who's right and who'd wrong. The Balane of Power is changed all too often my the SG-1 teams.

Oh well - I won't dwell on the negative and highlight the positive dialogue, great acting (as usual) and a good storyline - continuing the Unas storyarc.

My rating 7/10 - fair enough eh ?

I really enjoyed this episode. Good to see the Unas' again, and Daniels relatiosnhip with Chaaka..

B of B was on last thursday for the first time in Briz, Oz. I thought it was hilarious. Esp. when we saw Daniel for the first time watching the tv. the Spunk. plus i can't believe Daniel missed the main alien dude with the zat...lol...whould have saved a lot of trouble but it's all in the suspense.
