"Daniel, you dog, keep this up and you'll have a woman on every planet!"

"Suspicious River"

If you are the adventuresome (and over age 18) sort and want to see Michael Shanks in a very different role, take a look at "Suspicious River." This is not to say that I recommend this film -- it is very dark, sordid, violent and degrading -- but not a bad movie, just a very difficult subject.

I don't regret having seen it and MS does a wonderful job as a brutal rapist. This movie is not for everyone, especially if you aren't prepared to see that sweet Canadian fellow doing very bad things. You do have to watch the entire film to get the entire meaning of it and to see both parts of Shanks' performance.

As I said, not for everyone.

I heard some people who watched the film say that they wished they hadn't...I'm sure it's not easy to see him in this role, doing all those things but I for one can't wait to watch it. Unfortunately it's not out yet here in austria...but as soon as it's available I'm gonna watch it...

I think you have to know why you are watching the film. If it is because MS is in it and you just love MS in everything you've seen him then you probably won't like this movie that much.

MS does not have that much screen time in either of his appearances in the film and much of what he says and does is everything I ever knew to hate about men. But he does it very well -- acting against type as they call it.

But if you are watching this movie because you want to see a serious psychological thriller or as an MS fan you really want to see the other end of his range of talent, then you'll be fine with "Suspicious River."

Just check your feelings at the door.

I guess the reason I really want to watch the movie is because I want to see MS in this particular role...I've seen him in SG, I've seen him in Andromeda, All around the town and Outer Limits...and all the way I saw Daniel Jackson.
It's hard *not* to see him as Daniel because he's Daniel for me.

SG4 helped a lot because for the first time I realized he's absolutely different from Daniel...and now I can distinguish between Michael and the part he played for five years.

I really want to see what else he can do except the nice guy...and I guess this is my chance...:D :D

Then by all means you should see "Suspicious River." I, too, have seen MS in far too many roles that were all just like Daniel (Outer Limits, Andromeda, Escape From Mars). "SR" is nothing like those and proves that MS has tremendous talent as an actor.

Thanks for the information on this one..I ahve done some serches for it here in the uk but its not out yet ( I don't think) but I will watch it when it comes out!

Ditto.

Oh, I forgot Escape from Mars...it's a very Daniel-like character he plays in that one, too...;)
