between 2 fires

well all of you that saw last week's eps likely saw the 2.3 second preview we got...the most notable bits is tanith...yes tanith, throwing sam & danny across the room iwth a ribbon device and hten a shot of narim.

the snippit from the tv guide goes something like 'col o neill is curious when the tollan all of a sudden decide to trade weaons" (i'm paraphrasing so it's not exact)

anyway, anyone wanna speculate and see how right they are in about 7hrs and 54 minutes?????

[Without having seen S4, only read spoilers:]

I would suggest that the Tollan are doing this for one of three reasons: they are after something in return, they have a genuine fear they lack the aggression (which the Tauri can supply), or it is either not the Tollan or not a real offer...

We have seen Goa'uld imitation before, so could be the latter. We have seen the Tollan know how to defend themselves, so may not be the middle. We have also seen the Tollan, so the former is very likely - but what does Earth have that they could possibly want?

well from the spoilers that i read it said the goa'uld have a new weapon that pentrated the tollan defense system. so i guess maybe like the asgard they need our help to come up with "dumb ideas". in pretense it was noted that the tollan do not have any idea how to fight because they haven't in so long. we'll see in 5 hours. :D

spoilage ahead

this is up on the showtime site

SG-1 return yesterday from a funeral on Tollana for Omoc, a member of the Tollan Curia who was rescued by SG-1 from a disaster on P3X-7763 (native name, "Tollan") in January of 1998
Tollana was established as a new homeworld for the Tollan people; access to the world was only recently made possible through the construction of a Stargate at the location
The Tollans are a technologically advanced race, and have thus far refused to share any technology with the SGC
SG-1 met with the Narim (also rescued from P3X-7763) to attend the ceremony
The Tollan Chancellor Travell has requested the return of SG-1 this date to discuss the exchange of their technology
When departing, Narim gave Major Carter a holographic recording of a warning; he believed that the Earth was in grave danger
Although the warning could have something to do with today's scheduled meeting on Tollana, the mission has been cleared by General Hammond
Primary objective is to determine what, if any, elements of technology the Tollan are now willing to share
Secondary objective is to determine if there is any validity to the warning and to plan the best course of action

now i can't wait even more.......5 hours to go.....

remember that old song or commercial.....
anticipation...is making you wait:cool:

4 hours and 15 minutes to go:D

Now see, I musta been snoozing when they showed the shot of Tanith on the clip....because I was shocked when he popped up on my screen!! Too bad they couldn't get their hands on him!

One thing....does anybody know why he's so determined to get his hands on Teal'c in particular? Everybody else treated him just as badly as he did...so what's up with the vendetta thing? You'd think he'd want to deal with the entire team personally, not just Teal'c.... Any thoughts?

AH!! OMG HOW!! Spoiler

:angryfire:

AH! I so can't believe what the Tollan did. It's so shocking it's sickening. After all that we have done for them. They go and help the Goa'uld to destroy us. They don't even try and use those weapons to fire onto the ship. ARGH. And now Nareem might be dead too. I just can't believe this. Why couldn't we have tried to contact the Asgard. I'm sure they would have helped. I think i'm gonna get sick.
:crying:

Possible spoilers below

I really liked this episode. Yeah it sucks that the Tollan got their asses kicked, but they were trying to sell us out...so I guess it all worked out in the end. (just kidding)

(edited to add the spoiler comment)

now why'd they have to go knock off nareem. poor sam, first her ex-fiancee, then martouf, then orlin and now nareem. and i thought my love life sucked.:rolly2:

i'm not gonna bother with spoilers. anyone who is on a season 5 forum about a season 5 show wants to be spoiled.;)

we dont' know if narim is toast or not. just because the transmission cut off doesn't mean he's dead. and if the snakes were bombarding them from space it is possible some survived.

tanith has it in for teal'c cause he knows teal'c wants to cream him for murdering shonac.

it's a jaffa revenge thing

this eps does a really good job of building on past eps and i htink lays the groundwork good for the rest of season 5

I love the episode. I'm with Skydiver, we don't know is Narim is dead. Everything indicates that is a possibility. So that would mean that the Tollan are out as a race because he say in the transmision that a few of them escape. But is he's dead probably the others too.:-( As for me bring me more Tanith and I'm happy, love him as a baddie. The question is, who is the new boss? I'm really looking forward to know the new boss. They already eliminate the defense of the Tollan against them, what more is in store for the other races. :D

Krystal :rolly2:

Poor Sam it seems like anyone that cares about her ends up dead. Okay Narim may not be dead yet but he is still in a pretty bad position.

Liked the way Jack challenged Narim to do the right thing. Easy for Jack to say when by Narim doing the right thing will save the Tauri but probably destroy his own people. The Tollan tried to take the easy way out but there as they found out there was not such thing.

Good way they built on things from previous episodes. Also want to know more about this bad guy whose name we don't know.

Poor sammy

I caught this episode over at the stargate archive.

Man, that was good. This season is going great!!!!

But poor sammy! The look on her face at the end.
Wonder if she was thinking:
"Well, that makes Hanson, Martouf, Orlin, and now Narim's another one to check off the list!"

Could someone write a synopsis of this for me pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Thanx :D

It's strange the impression most of you got of the Tollan's actions...... I thought that they were more concerned with saving their own planet than selling out earth......

Okay, so they got in bed with the enemy to do it..... but I really don't think that selling out earth was their primary motivation at all. And personally I can't see why they would have involved earth at all. I don't for one minute believe that earth is the ONLY planet that has a trinium mine.

As for the Star Wars moment at the beginning of the episode.... I could almost hear it.

"Help me Sam Carter..... you are our only hope!"

I kinda lost it at that point and watched with growing hilarity as the episode unfolded. So that bit spoilt it for me really.

And I really don't think that Narim is dead at all. I also don't think that the Goa'uld will totally destroy a race who can come up with such a killer weapon technology. It would make much more sense to blast them until they couldn't possibly escape or fight back, then go down and enslave the rest.

Jeez people...... not EVERYTHING is about earth and the humans... We wouldn't last two minutes out there in the galaxy with that kind of typically insular thinking.

BTW) New avatar Anni? You are a true Cronus fan aren't you! (and why not, he has been the best male goa'uld so far!)

Yup...... finally made it to custom avatar...... and right again. I am a true Chronos fan. Someone has to root for the Goa'uld in the midst of all of this unashamed human drooling!!!

:laugh2:

I thought he was utterly cool the first time I saw him in Fair Game and although I had watched the show for entertainment up to that point, I truly only became a fan because of him!!

 ;)
