ehem, speaking as a representative of the top 11% of the graduating class of 2001 (sadly, it's only 11%..*sniff*)...
The Simpsons is an educational show. We watched an episode in Chemistry class once (I forget which ep). The sly references are often history lessons ("President Garfield spanked me on 2 non-consecutive occasions." Grover Cleveland was the only president to serve 2 non-consecutive terms) The ep where Homor became famous for his art showed a lot of famous artwork and artists. There is so much other stuff this that I can't even begin to go into detail.
To say that TV rots your brain is fallicy. I learned most of what I know from TV, and I'm not complaining. It was fun AND educational.
So in conclusion, the Simpsons rock.
