Futurama

Its also on channel four sometimes and i think channel 2 because i have remebered watching on there

this is one sweet TV program. its not as good as the Simpsons though. My fave character is Bender.

I didn't really like when it started, but my problem was that I kept comparing it to the Simpsons. Once I let that go I really started to enjoy it...... then I learned it got cancelled! :(

My favs are Dr Zoidberg & Leela.

I loved it at the beginning and I love it now... But  it has been cancelled so I am not a happy camper, even though we still have a good few unaired eps left...

I've not seen many of them, but Sky has started repeating them and I've just seen a few recently.

'Why Must I Be a Crustacean in Love' when Zoidberg has to return to his planet for the mating frenzy is a complete parody of 'Star Trek's' 'Amok Time' even down to Fry having to fight his best friend in the arena. And they ask everyone stand for the National Anthem and then play the same 'Star Trek' fight sequence music. Very clever stuff. I must watch more.

Star Trek is an ENORMOUS influence on Futurama, even down to many of the sound effects being lifted from the show (listen to the door-opening swishes).

There is an episode in the third or fourth season in which the entire original series cast appear (those that are still alive to lend their voices, of course). Absolutely hilarious.

And Len Nimoy keeps up frequent appearances in this Groening show, after being a regular guest on the Simpsons.

I've heard about that episode, but not seen it. They said in an interview that it was just like doing a new 'Star Trek' episode. I'll have to watch some more Futurama, the few I've see so far were all very good.

I never did watch many more of these, but I just saw the very first and second episodes today for the first time. They were excellent and I also understand the characters a little better now.

Nimoy is actually in the first ep.

Question: When Fry is in the cryogenic cylinder at the start of the first ep and they do a homage to the film of the 'The Time Machine', alien flying saucers twice lay waste to the world of the future. Do you ever find out who they were?

You know I think they do say something about it in a later ep
but I can't think what it is.
It's gonna bug me now. Someone must know. Help. :eek7:

It was good to see the first two episodes again.
Good old sky 1. Lets hope they continue up to the untimely end.

Seen that one now, it's great how they parody themselves and the people who knock Shatner should watch it to see what a good sport he is, since many of the jokes are on him personally.

A Future For Futurama?

Talks have begun at 20th Century Fox TV to revive the animated TV show Futurama, much in the same way Family Guy found new life after cancellation, Variety reported.

The studio is in early discussions to put Futurama back in production and create a limited number of episodes of the Emmy Award-winning show, although it's too soon to tell where those episodes might end up. A representative for 20th Century Fox TV declined comment to Variety.

The final original episode of Futurama aired on Fox in August 2003. Since then, the show has found new life and fans via DVD releases and repeatedly high-rated airings on the Cartoon Network.

Before Futurama comes back into being, however, Fox first must secure deals with the show's production team, as well as voice stars Billy West (Fry), Katey Sagal (Leela) and John DiMaggio (Bender).

Meanwhile, new Futurama stories have appeared in comics published by co-creator Matt Groening's Bongo Comics imprint.

Ah, Bender bending Rodrigeuz, The baddest robot ever!:)

The first movie is now out on DVD in America (Bender's Big Score) and should be available everywhere soon. There's 4 (I think) being made and each will then be divided into 4 episodes which will become season 5. At least that was reported to be the plan at one point, they seem to have gone back and forth a bit on exactly how the series was to be continued: episodes, movies or this combined option.

A great show, love it. In some weird way I even like Zap Brannigan but I think my fav's are those very tasy popplers!!!

People who have come across my posts a lot probably already know that I'm a fan of trivia and the more pointless the better :D So here's a bit of Futurama trivia that I came across the other day when looking for the name of a character. The main character Phillip J Fry is named for Phillip Phil Hartman who was murdered shortly before the series started.

Phillip Hartman was the voice behind several Simpsons characters most notably Troy Mclure and Lionel Hutz (both characters were 'retired' on his death and have not appeared since). Hartman was signed on to be the voice of Zapp Brannigan in Futurama before his death.

Sorry to those that get annoyed by trivia but its really Tanga's fault her post reminded me of reading this just the other day

Well we now know the answer to that "Bender's Big Score" , they must have of thought of that at the very start.

Seeing new Futurama almost made me cry of joy and definifly of laughter, I still can not believe it, and I really hope that the other film/series will be produced.

I am board of the simpsons "silly humur", I mean Bart and Lisa were Kids when I was a kid myself and they still are...forever. I think the show is drying up now that "Family Guy & American Dad" have moved comedy to different level.

In fact you could say the Futurama Humour was intelligent and ahead of it's time, the globe trotters doing advanced non-linear equations in "Bender's Big Score"

The new film/episode is better the second..third...etc...time.

I just have to say thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks etc.

Are you dyslexic? You have that the wrong way around.

Simpsons silly humour? Family Guy and American Dad taking humour to the next level?

lol that's a good one. Completely wrong, but a good one.

i myself think this is the best animation on at night...it is very funny and i just like how its laid out and so such

It is a good show its just getting a bit over played now on Channel 10 here in Australia. I think its the third or fourth time they have played all of it through now.
