kids,

the character of daniel jackosn will alledgedly be back in season 6 for guest appearances, no official word on how many or how often. there is also the possibility of the movie, but it is a possibility for everyone since the script is not written and no contracts have been signed.

the replacement:
i don't know for sure if he's been cast ot not...what i recall brad wright saying from the con is that it's a civilian male. and that we will get to see him in season 5, but where in season 5 i do not recall.

i know i can't wait for season 6 to see how it all works out. it should be interesting

The fate of Dr. Daniel Jackson will be decided in the second-to-last
episode of Season Five, "Meridian." Actor Michael Shanks has decided not to sign on as a regular cast member for the show's sixth season (story), and will depart the show before the season finale.

Now the first plot info for "Meridian" is in, thanks to a glimpse at
script material made available to casting agencies. But be warned, the details below include big spoilers for this episode and the fate of Dr. Jackson. Proceed at your own risk!

Ready?

"Meridian" tells the story of an alien world threatened with destruction when they attempt to build a weapon of mass destruction. An accident threatens thousands of people, and Daniel sacrifices himself to save them exposing himself to massive radiation.

Back in the SGC infirmary, Jackson lays dying. He is saved by Oma Desala, a powerful alien being (and guardian of Shifu, the Harcesis child) who Daniel first met in Season Three's "Maternal Instinct." Oma arrives and helps him ascend beyond his mortal body (a process we've also seen with Shifu in Season Four's "Absolute Power," and Orlin in this year's "Ascension").

This, of course, allows Dr. Jackson to return for guest appearances in Season Six -- and for the Stargate SG-1 feature film, likely to start production late next year. Jackson could even return to his human form and abandon the ascension, as Orlin did.

Shanks is expected to sign on for the "Stargate II" feature film, along with the rest of the principal cast.

"Meridian" appears to have been a late addition to the Season Five line-up, replacing "Fragile Balance" -- an episode dealing with the Asgard and cloning, which was originally scheduled for Season Four and has now been pushed back again.

It also appears to be the last episode filmed this season, inserted into the line-up upon Shanks' decision not to resign. How this affected the script for the season finale is unknown -- though it seems very unlikely now that Shanks will appear in that episode.

Also, in case some of you haven't heard yet. Michael is gonna be at Wolf SG-3.

MS Farewell

Sad as I will be to see Michael Shanks go, I've watched far too many other promising actors get "tied" irretrievably to one show (oh, where are they now?) and have trouble finding work because of a fan base that will not accept the actor as any other character. It is a fickle world.

Stage work is wonderful, but it will limit seeing him to wherever the stage is. Personally I hope he gets lots of movie & TV roles, so that we can see him in other characters. I look forward to that.

My only fear is that the character will be killed off. Shanks isn't the first actor to play the part and it would be a pity to cut off the chance of some other actor -- or for Shanks to return should that be his desire at a latter date.

(Something here about never burning one's bridges . . . )

It seems the one and only good thing to comeout of this si that MS seems to be more willing to do the rounds at conventions...but I wil be extra sad if they do kill him off....but from what everyone is say that seems unlikely:rolleyes:

Yeah, after it was so detailed described how they're writing him out of the show (or rather already have) on several pages I believe the lightform-version...

Yeah thats what I think too...it seems that he will (has) been taken out of it that way...at least he is not been killed off:D

Yes, thank god!
At least there is the chance he's guest starring...if they'd killed him off....don't even want to think about it...:D

-to all that care-
This is my first time on this board so sorry if I mess anything up.... But anyways. I LOVE MICHAEL SHANKS! He's the best. I've watched all the Stargate episodes and the movie and everything... I'm a die hard Daniel fan. This is the first I have heard of him leaving the show or whatever. Ever since Stargate went off Showtime a while (the new eipsodes) I stopped watching the re-runs. If they do take MS off Stargate I think I'm going to stop watching all together. This is the most disturbing news I've heard. I really hate TBTB. First Xena is cancelled (yes I'm a weirdo and I LOVE that show.. I watched since Xena guest appeared on Herc!) then Buffy supposedly dies and goes off the WB. All of those shows were my favorites. And now, my favorite show of all time has to have my favorite dude leave the show. I'm sooooo upset. I can't even believe it. I know you guys really don't care, but... this really sucks. I can't even imagine Stargate without Daniel. It's like not even possible! I mean... even those few episodes where Daniel wasn't in them. I almost died! I was so upset then. Ah. This is really upsetting me. Hopefully I will get over being such a selfish teen and accept the fact that Michael Shanks hates his loyal fans. I wish him the best of luck doing whatever it is he wants to do.

-never returnin stargate fan-
*tear*
