Pairings...
Well... it would depend on what type of story I was writing and the message I wanted it to say.
Gen: Any of the gals against any of the guys would bring some interesting dynamics into things, especially if you include off-world contacts.
Jack:
S/J= So traditional. Jan/J = interesting, becasue she probably knows him at levels he doesn't know. Pick-the-Alien of the week/J. All bets are off.
Daniel:
S/D= almost incestious, but rampently romantic, Jan/D = same as above, D=alien: here we go.
Teal'c:
S/T= boy, this one could tweek a lot of hidden taboos, T/Jan= probably my favorite ideas here, T/alien: So?
and you can extrapolate from there.
Slash: Again, the above holds true. There are just so many little asides and side stories that each person has that the interlocking is boundless.
Jack:
J/D= ah, the classic. The basic combo that seems to fill in the gaps and needy spots for each other. My fav of anything., J/T= warrior to warrior, interesting,
And it just keeps on growning. And that's not counting Hamond, Siler, Harriman, Simmons, Davis, Maybourne, Makepiece [read a lovely Janet/Makepiece story a while ago], and realistic NPC's a writer can create.
So far as the story line on the show goes: J&D [Brothers In Arms, not bed-buddies], S&Jan [Both knowing full wel the fight to rise in a profession bnot female friendly and being in the military], Teal'c/Hammond = I'd like to see where that could go as a 'friend - shoulder' thing.
But please take into account: Although people peg me as a slash writer, I have probably 3-4 gens for every one slash. I'm equal opportunity, I'll write about anybody up to and including a intimate relationship. I just don't write the physical parts. My 'sex' is cerebral and left to the readers imagination as to what happened and how far it went.
YMMV.
