I wonder if anyone knows exactly how old the actor who plays Jacob Carter is..... Because it strikes me that he may, in reality, but not all that much older than RDA... RDA is starting to look his age, although a very fit looking 51 year old it has to be said. I for one like the fact that he is.... And I tend to think that the character of Jack is all wrong for Sam.
But the point I was making about age... is that I found it strange that anyone would have difficulty in picturing Jacob with a woman because he looks too paternal. Maybe it is just my age, 50/f/UK, but I have no such difficulties at all. I also don't have difficulties with the idea of older people having sex, but I think that the idea of 'parents having sex' is an age old hangup. and I often have been in conversations where young men and women have talked about "fancy them having sex at THEIR age' when the subjects of the conversation were late forties/fifties, then they look at me at say 'don't you think?'. I suppose its a compliment to me, considering I am in my fifties *wry smile*that they don't consider me to be in that category. But it does make me smile sometimes.
I can imagine Hammond in a loving relationship and the actor has considerable charm, as I'm sure Rowan would agree. I can see that Hammond might attract a mature, intelligent woman who would care enough about him to understand that he takes his job very seriously and who was comfortable enough with herself and the relationship to not let it affect her.
I do think as well that looks play an important part in whether you are perceived to be an actively sexual person. There is an unfortunate tendency to assume that only people who are beautiful and young with supple bodies make love or indulge in passion. And this is not the case at all.
but pairings?
I wouldn't pair Sam with Jack or Daniel..... I'm not sure who she would be comfortable with... Someone perhaps totally unrelated to the military or to the Stargate programme.
Daniel..... I think he and Sha're made a good pairing.... personally. I think they complimented each other rather nicely.
Jack..... I don't know.... whoever it was, it would have to be someone who was very understanding. Obviously he and Sara had a good relationship once, but it got damaged after the death of their son, and it's always true, that you can never go back, all you can do is move on and live. For them, it was obviously too difficult to move on together. But I don;t think either Sam or Janet are right for him.
Janet...... Is a self sufficient lady, but I think she would need a guy to make her laugh and I don't think anyone in the SGC or out of it is suitable.
Teal'c.... god knows.... I think his Jaffa wife suited him and it was just an unfortunate set of circumstances, initially created by his defection, that has kept them apart.
In fact I wouldn't pair any of them together.
