5.17: Menace

For an episode that started out kind of slow, it really got rockin' in the last half. Watching Daniel passionately defend Reese, and then go into the gate room and equally passionately try to convince Reese what had to be done was terriffic drama, and really made me regret that we're losing Daniel's character.

That actress who played Reese did a marvelous job with a very difficult role, especially displaying the heavy emotions at the end and really 'selling' that she was a distraught but immature being. A lesser actress would have come off sounding bratty or obnoxious.

I agree totally. She was very talented, I want to see her again!!

I think this one of the best episodes in season 5 & I so agree with Anni about "introducing her as the replicator creator was just the kind of irony that actually exists in real life. And it even made the replicators make sense to me!"
& the part about Danny & Jack's disagreement & Jack not "asking" Danny about the situation before shooting. Well, I figure, Jack knew exactly the situation & more than Danny did. Jack knew from Sam that Reese was loosing control, Jack also knew there were only a few seconds to end it so that the autodistruct could be canceled.

Another Great Episode

As the title say's, another great episode. However, in my opinion, the girl who played Reece was too whiny and was quite annoying when she was behaving like a child, even if it was her character.

Besides that, it was great to see the Replicators again. I too reacted like Danny when that Replicator climbed up the bookcase.

I was extra surprised to actually see a Kick-Ass General Hammond in this episode. It's a shame we don't get to see him in a T-Shirt (don't get any funny ideas!) and a whopping great gun (How big was that thing?! I guess as the general, he gets to choose the biggest weapon.) I only wish that he'd used his weapon a bit more. I suppose it makes sense to see him defending his base, it was just such a surprise since in previous episodes when the base is under attack, he's nowhere to be seen or leaves it all to Jack.

As for the ending, very emotional and unexpected. I really didn't think Jack was going to kill Reece. Danny's tearful reaction was well justified, I felt the same!
