Episode 1:15 'Sleeping Dogs' (contains Spoilers)

Episode Title: 'Sleeping Dogs'
Episode Number: 115
Original Airdate: February 13, 2002

Klingon warriors and Orion Whiskey will turn out to be an unlucky combination for the crew of the NX-01 in one of the first Enterprise episodes during next year's February sweeps.

Sources were able to provide some early plot information on 'Sleeping Dogs,' an episode of which previously only the title was known. As it turns out, the episode will feature Captain Archer's third encounter with the Klingon Empire, following 'Broken Bow' and 'Unexpected'. But this time, the Enterprise won't have to face a far stronger Bird-of-Prey.

Instead, 'Sleeping Dogs' will see the Enterprise encountering a Klingon Raptor-class scout ship drifting through the outer layers of a gas giant. Archer decides to board the ship, and discovers that all the Klingons aboard are unconscious, infected by a virus.

Archer decides to try and help the Klingons, but he is hindered every step of the way in this by the only Klingon who managed to avoid being infected by the virus: the ship's cook, a woman named Bu'kaH. She is the embodiment of Klingon paranoia, deeply mistrusting Archer and accusing him of being the one who infected the crew with a toxin. While she is brought back to the Enterprise, she does manage to trap Trip, Reed and Hoshi aboard the Klingon ship before that.

This adds an extra sense of urgency to Archer's mission to find a solution, as the three Enterprise crew members begin to suffer from the virus as well, and the Raptor itself is sinking further and further away into the gas giant. But the three also help to uncover the reason the Klingon ship was infected, when they discover how to play the ship's logs. On the monitor, they see the Klingon captain tell of a battle the ship won at an Orion trading outpost, followed by a recording of a victory celebration where the Bloodwine and Orion Whiskey flowed liberally.

This gives Phlox a clue, and he discovers that the virus was spread through alcohol - the Klingons were deliberately effected by the Orions. Phlox manages to synthesise an anditodte, and applies it to Bu'Kah, who has also begun to fall ill. She is still suspicious of Archer, but with great difficulty T'Pol manages to persuade her to give them the information necessary to get the antidote to the Klingon ship and cure the unconscious warriors.

As the episode concludes, the now-revived Klingon captain shows his 'gratitude' to Archer by agreeing not to blow the Enterprise out of space right now, but still advises him to get the hell out of there before the Klingon Birds-of-Prey arrive who have been sent to do exactly that. As the Enterprise flies away, we move to the decon chamber, where Trip, Reed and Hoshi are relaxing in this clean, safe environment, and letting all the the stress from the past few days slide off them...

I knew u would.... the dog saves the world and all that ....

Rumoured to feature the Enterprise encountering a Klingon Raptor-class scout ship, drifting through the atmosphere of a gas giant. An away mission finds almost the entire Klingon crew infected by a virus and unconscious, and Archer decides to try and help them. Unfortunately, he is hindered in this by the only Klingon who managed to avoid being infected by the virus: the ship's cook, a woman named Bu'kaH who is the embodiment of Klingon paranoia.

okay - wow - that description - just a little off - and i know that that is probably b/c changes were made during actual production and such --

it's not Trip, Reed, and Hoshi - it's T'Pol, Reed, and Hoshi trapped on the ship --

and - they don't suffer the effects of the toxin - Reed has a cold

and - i don't think it was Orion ale - but i had a hard time understanding what they called it -- either way - that part's right - it's what spread the virus

and the Klingon woman - she was infected, but apparently 'hid' in a cold environment (guess like a freezer) which kept the virus at bay -- Phlox cured her ---

oh - and Archer acts 'Klingon' at the end to convince the Klingon captain to not fire on enterprise -- very cool!

okay - that's most of it

this ep was interesting -- it focused a bit more on the away team and what they had to do - little bit of insight there --

shows the UT working better - and Hoshi seems to be learning a LOT of Klingon!

we see Reed going to town w/ the new weapons on Enterprise and the weapons systems on the Klingon ship

T'Pol helps Hoshi w/ her anxiety about the mission and such - very very good scene! (kinda makes ya like T'Pol a little bit more)

Trip suggests to Archer that he act more 'Klingon' to get the information that he wants - so, Archer does some 'research' in the Vulcan archives on the computer - learns lots of stuff - and it helps -- he gets some info and cooperation from the Klingon woman --- (whether or not she was the cook on the ship, i don't think they ever say -- or, if they did, i'd never hear it, b/c UPN had a bug up its butt last night and the film kept 'slipping' and jerking around - not really sure what the deal was there)

all-around - a very good episode -

btw - Porthos makes 0 appearances in this ep --

the sleeping dogs are the Klingons ---

as in - they should have let the 'sleeping dogs' lie -----

I like how Reed is so excited by the Klingon's weapons, and Trip had some good lines. Does Porthos even make an appearance?

yeah - the Photon Torpedos are the 'new' weapons -

Porthos - no - not in the ep - he was on last week

(psst - Dave - can we 'sticky' this thread and make it look like the others? - it kinda gets lost down here)

I don't want to interfere on Neo's territory, but the ASciFi rule is to have all the episodes threads X.YY: ZZZZZZ. where x is the season, yy is the epiosde number, and zzzzz is the title. Then they should all be stickied. This forum is a mess! :D :D :D

Is it OK if I do that Neo?

Dave be my guest.... If u have the time ...

I have been away laterly due to computer failure and a rubbish ISP... But i will return !!!!!

Just bought a new comp and will be back on after the 19th Feb full time...

oh - one other thing i remembered about this episode -- they meet 'targs' for the 1st time -- i think T'Pol tells them what they are, but i don't quite recall ---

I've heard a rumour that we see them eating Targs too. There is a lot of internet discussion about it: "How can they eat their pets. . . blah blah?"

But wasn't Worf's favourite food 'Heart of Targ', so it's not a new idea to Enterprise -- if it's true, that is.

A lot of the stuff on the net is NOT rubbish DAve

This episode was screened last night.

No appearances of Porthos. :( Not a bad eppy. Enjoyed seeing Hoshi, T'Pol and Reed coming together to solve the problems on board the Klingon ship. Seeing the Targs skull in the 'soup' was bit  but other than that it was good. Especially liked the scene at the end when the trio were being detoxinified(whatever they call it) and enjoying the peace.

annette :D

It sure was. Made a change to see T'Pol joining in the 'fun'.

annette :D

She lied ??? maybe strecthed the truth a litlle

She may have lied. Told a little fib, but the rest of the crew did encourage in her escapade.
