well, we seem to have a thread for almost everything else, so we need a thread for sam/ janet...

analyse their glamour, personality, outlook, professionalism, style, dress sense, and anything else you can think of

i remind you, i am FEMALE, and this is written from a female point of view, and i do not want guys voting for sam "coz they like her @$$", sensible, analytical points ov view only please

Prefer Sam. i don't think Doc.Fraiser gets ebough stuff to do or say so i couldn't actually comment on what she's like.

But i like Sam better cos she likes Jack and thats good enough for me

I do enjoy glimpses into the private lives of the ladies! "Hathor" was a kick because we got a look at Janet beyond the professional. She had a good sense of humor, tilted toward the wry and a caring attitude. I just loved her as Dr. Rambo! But what I think nice is the way she mothers Cassie! She seems as if she would be a really good mom! someone who would let her child grow and expand and encourage the better aspects of growth while not covering up the harder moments...

Sam we got over several more shows... And I did like the look in Ascension we took. Sam seems to be sensitive and quiet.. even with her motorcycle... and family oriented.... and a good friend and mentor to Cassie! After Ascension, I don't know why but I got the feeling she is even more quiet about her private life....

BOTH... and sore butt aside... T is my man!

Oh, I love Janet.... I don't know... I love her sense of humor, and the loyalty she has toward her friends. And I also liked her a lot more than I liked Sam in the first season. She didn't seem to have this overwhelming desire to prove herself, she just did her job. I don't know, Janet's just really cool.

I like Sam...in fact she is one of my fave characters...she is funny, smart, kind, caring..she loves her work and the members of her team.
She ia a great role model to Cassie ect ect....

But then Janet...she is also smart, funny, kind ect ect...she makes a great mum for Cassie...she also cares about SG1 and the rest of the guys....


But I also like their friendship...

So Im not gunna choose...coz I choose both...

Has to be Sam. i love seeing women in strong, usually male dominated, roles. although she has had her soppy moments she is tough and determined. also great to see a woman displaying intelligence, and i love the way Jack never understands her. So often women can be potrayed as equals but not excel.
for me the Jack/Sam thing just proved how strong she was, a woman that didnt sacrifice everything for love!
Janet is ok and as a doctor an intelligent woman also but we never really get to see it. Even when there are tough medical decisions, like with Tealcs symbiote, its Sam who comes up with the ideas and Janet just carries them out. Sometimes she comes across more like a glorified nurse.
Maybe they need to explore her role a bit more and give her more chance to assert herself.
I see Janet as the motherly type. The one who adopted cassie and goes home every night to make dinner, picking up the groceries in her station wagon on the way.
Sam is out there risking her life, often spending days on the base studying some latest scientific problem.

im not sure why, but i like her "small but powerful" style, and the way she deals with cassie, and the conversations with hammie are funny.

i love her sense of humor, too!

Voted for both ... Sam is great, a strong woman, yeah Jack likes her a lot, she's smart and intelligent and that all but I wish she was a bit less tense ....

The good Doc...simply love the way she handles with Jack sometimes!

Good question, well phrased (says the legal eagle/beagle in this group).

I prefer to ride the fence (which I asure you is not my usual pose!). That a series has two females, equally professional and intelligent, both with a sense of humor, not presented for the t&a group (o.k., I admit the Tok'ra and the Goa'uld usually take care of that part with all the wonder bras!) impresses me.

The excellent writing has progressed forward each season, and for both characters. And whether you are in support of the J&S "shipper" issue, I like the fact that this does not control the arc of the show; it adds to it from time to time.

And for those who have not seen Season 5, I'll just say that Janet can hold a weapon with the best of them :erm:. And she intended to kill. (And I believed her; 100% ! ).

Sam, cuz she's cool and she's smart and she gets to confuse the guys. She's a strong gal in a mainly male dominated role and as I'm sorta getting into the aviation industry as a gal, I know how challanging that is, also she's successful at what she does and that makes it even more amazing. You've gota respect that in any character - real or fictional .......
