Tell me, waddaya think of this?
SG3D.jpg

It's a 3D render of the Tauri (spelling?...) Stargate I made. It's quite simplistic; I haven't put on any textures or anything.

It looks great to me. Your computer abilities are so far ahead of mine, the computer challenged, that it even looks better from where I sit.

Rhino 3D Demo.

I'd like to try doing some of those Go'uld gliders too, as well as some offworld gates.

gate

Good work, Roach. I know my computer skills don't fall anywhere near this area or quality. Keep it up. :p

Well, I got some images of them last night. But I'm studying for an exam tomorrow, so I won't actually be doing it for a while.

exams!!!shudder, ledt them behind in May for good.

Roach,

I started out using Rhino 3D Trial but moved onto Bryce 3D and Cinema 4D XL ... come along to my site if you are after some inspiration.

Nice start though - look forward to seeing some more soon.

P.S Good luck with your exams.

Actually yeah, I saw your site just after I posted this. You rock.

Just finished my exam... bloody hell! Most people, when they left, were wishing they never took history. We were doing the Elizabeth->James->Charles period. There was just so much to remember, that it was impossible to take it all in. And we had a look at some of the previous years' papers, so we could get an idea of the sorts of questions they'd ask. The questions were all wacky, and poorly written, and some you didn't know what the hell they were asking. 3 people left mid-exam. A friend of mine didn't finish his second essay, and completely bombed the first. I completed everything, and I think that I got the essay questions right, but I don't think I gave enough examples. But the way the questions were asked, it was impossible to be specific, and most people I talked to after rambled on in the essays, and more or less repeated the same thing over and over.

Sorry. just had to get that out.

I reitterate, THANK APOPHIS I LEFT EXAMS BEHIND FOR GOOD. I'm sure you did fine. I was the Queen of BSing in essay questions & always did well.:rolly2:

Exams

Ah... so distinct advanteges to being a 'Bloody Colonial'. We only got back to about the late 1600's eraly 1700's on our history. ;)

I used a technique called lofting for most of it, which means you basicly draw curves and use the loft command to join them into a solid surface. I was also planning to use textures but I had trouble finding a good one for the grilled platform, and I thought it'd look wierd, the entire thing textured except for the flat floor.

Here's my next thingie; it's a scene with a desert-egyptian theme.

I made most of the textures here myself, and did a new Gate.

Nice render .. what did you use for the sky ?

It's great to take Egypt as a theme, I did the same with one of my earlier images, "Forgotten".

I said that I did most of the textures... that's the one I didn't do:p

I was mainly concentrating on rocky textures in this one, as well as the sand and the event horizon. I only noticed that I didn't have a sky until after I rendered, and decided to use a backdrop I found at 3D Cafe.
