in season 1 Hathor, O'Neill becomes a Jaffa, but carter and frasier get him to hathor's sarcophagus to heal him. what I don't understand is why it healed him to human? wouldn't the sarcophagus recognize a jaffa and heal it as a jaffa?
I dunno, maybe it's because he didn't have a goa'uld larvae. but then the sgc would be able to restore Teal'c to human! but where would they get one? so, anyway, here's my train of thought.. if you have anything to add, yeah.

O'Neill was MADE a Jaffa from a human. Teal'c was BORN a Jaffa from a female Jaffa.

Since O'Neill was not a Jaffa to start with and was only made a Jaffa not long before they put him into the sarcophagus.

That is why. :D

Aha!!!!

NOBODY actually knows for sure....... it's one of those huge.... "Stargate writers and producers have absolutely no idea about continuity and matching storylines" mysteries......

As far as I know Jaffa are made and not necessarily born.... somehow I don't think that Teal'c came out of mommy's tummy with a little cross scored pouch in his own tiny little belly. I rather got the impression from one of the episodes about his son, that they reached a certain age and then went through a ritual and were given a prim'ta (larval Goa'uld) to carry. I would have thought it was entirely logical for the child to undergo the same sort of operation that Hathor carried out on Jack to make him a Jaffa.

As for the sarcophagus. I am only guessing, but because Jack's new pouch had not been taken by a larva and was still empty, it was still possible for him to be healed completely using a sarcophagus. Who knows? The Stargate writers are a bloody law unto themselves and don't seem to be particular about story continuity. In fact they pretty much suck at it.

  ;)

I think everyone's missing the bigger question here, one that's stumped me for years: Do Jaffa have bellybuttons?

No Anni

No Anni your wrong :)

The first Jaffa are made by The Queen goa'uld. Then from them they make more. I think jaffa are born with there pouch. And once they get to an age. They get there goa'uld and then can not live with out them! :)

You may well be right darlin...... I don't claim to have any in depth knowledge about the show!! I'm not one of these who watches every episode and examines it with a magnifying glass or goes through scripts with a fine tooth comb!!! :D

I'm just a poor viewing schmoe who watches the show 'cause she like it at first, but now hasn't the foggiest idea why she still watches it. I don't even like the main characters!!!

Does anyone else have any other ideas on this subject? It's an interesting point and one worth a debate or two!

:D :D ;)

Hmmm.... just thinking.... now im going to repeat what someone said in one other post (cant remember who and where) .. sorry :p but if all jaffa are born w the pouch, then they dont have an immune system... how the heck would they survive to live to the age of 10? lol in one ep someone said that w-out the goauld a jaffa lives only few hours .. im confused lol :D

Don't worry darling....we're ALL confused, otherwise we wouldn't be posting on these lists and forums.

You do have a rather valid point though! Unless of course a young Jaffa child loses it's immune system as soon as the symbiot is introduced. *shrug* Perhaps the price paid for giving safe harbour to a larval Goa'uld and the good health and long life that goes with it. Lots of people will tell you lots of things and swear on their mother's grave that they're unassailable facts.

What you may need to remember is that anything to do with Stargate is the feverish ramblings of a writer's mind and even that writer is not the definitive 'decider' as to what does or does not exist in a fictional universe. We... the fans and anyone else....can make any kind of statements we wish, there IS no bible, there is just our imaginations.

 :D

Ok.. im getting out the dictionary for that one lol :D
Stargate might be a show, but its a darn good one :D
Ill just stop being confused, and let my imagination fly lol guess ill find some solution in between those very confusing theories :D

KuuKiir :)

That's the idea!!!

:D :D :D

See? You didn't need a dictionary after all, did you?

Oh yippeeeeeee :D Guess those long hours in front of the pc and tv watching and talking english do pay off :D Maybe soon i can even send the poor dictionarys in the cupboard to have some rest :D

KuuKiir :)

There, there sweetie *pats Kuukiir on head gently*.... of course you can....

Your English is just fine... just watch the plurals!

(Dictionaries....... not dictionarys!)

LOL LOL LOL

;) ;) :p

dictionaries is another one of those words that by all common sense should be easy to spell. Another is dyslexia (i think that is right!). Why are these two words hard to spell? seems very illogical :)

Thats what I said. When the young Jaffa gets there first goa'uld they can not live without them.

A young Jaffa child loses it's immune system as soon as the symbiot is introduced.

thank you. you've all made it so clear to me.:disgust:

After all the above, I think I would have to go with:

Teal'c was born "human", raised under the eye of Goa'uld and other implanted Jaffas with all the doctrines and beliefs that this entails, and then at Prim'ta was sliced, diced and implanted. At THAT point he BECAME a Jaffa.
Before he was just a brainwashed human child.

It is then an action of the juvenile symbiote to suppress the immune system, regenerate the body (but keep the pouch open!), and create (or cause the host body to create) the necessary fluid in the pouch.

so why was jack ill before a symbiot went in him? coz that's why they had to rush him to a sarcophagos.
