Sarcophagus and Jaffa O'Neill

[Because I had not watched "Hathor" recently when I made the previous comments... :) ]

modification: the Hathor stomach-device which slices the HUMAN potential Jaffa, also causes the immune system to collapse. THis also stops the pouch closing, and starts generating the pouch fluid.

We presume the Snake Priests have a hand-held version of the stomach-device?

summary

thanks, every1, but that still doesn't answer my original question.
still, it's good we've(you've) covered so much ground. what we've got so far is: Jaffa are born human and at the age of 10, they loose their immune system and develop a pouch with something like Hathor's device (Hathor) and are implanted with a larval goa'uld from the local queen.

(going back to re-read the original question...)

It would heal him human because he is still genetically human, simply without an immune system which was then restored.

It probably comes from some sort of genetic memory in the DNA - a "correct" and fully working body has two arms, legs, skin, hair, eyes, etc. and the following internal bits, including immune system. Since it is all in the DNA, the sarcophagus can promote its re-growth.

then to solve Teal'c's dilemma, why don't they just rrmove his larva and plop him in a sarcophagus?
Or maybe they don't because they don't have access to a sarcophagus.. but if they did would it work?

From everything we have seen so far, I believe it would work.

But, the downside would be they would not have someone with:
+ warnings against Reetou
+ protection against radiation
+ much better healing powers

- a symbiote that can be detected by alien devices

Yes, but in a few years they're gonna have a fully mature goa'uld and no larva to replace it, so teal'c will die.

Er, I was answering your question, I think...

IF they found a sarcophagus, and removed Teal'c's symbiote, then he would be healed as a fully functional human again, with restored working immune system. But would lose the "benefits" of being a Jaffa

And detection of Reetou (Show and Tell), enhanced tolerance to radiation (Nemesis), and simple increased healing.

And, would also stop being detected as a Goa'uld or Jaffa (insert 30% of shows!)

a jaffa is slave to a god witha symbiote inside the pouch.
when the symbiote is on its own it is called a goauld larval

Jumping into this thread a bit late here but what the hell. SG-1 have stolen a symbiont before <see bloodlines> so whats stopping them doing it again. That leaves them with a Symbiont for Teal'c and a mature one to study.

Probably, but I bet the goa'uld are a little more careful since SG-1 stole a larva then to let it happen again. It'll be a lot more difficult.

Someone has already suggested that the device hathor used to create the pouch on Jack could be what causes the immune system to die. I'd go with that.
