Episode 6.08 Tabula Rasa

I keep forgetting what this episode is about.

some good comedy in this one..

Nobody messes with Joan the....(whack)

I loved Giles and Spike as father and son, and Giles and Anya as a couple! And that kiss

This one was very very good and funny.

Giles and Spike as father and son...now thats funny!!

Giles and Anya...even funnier!!

Buffy calling herself Joan...LOL!

:rolly2:

Not really liking Willow at the moment, she used to be one of my faves but Im not so sure right now.
Wonder what Tara is going to do with herself...and Giles leaving (again)
*sob* how could he...I will miss him.

All in all a really good and funny one!

I was sitting watching this on my own in one room, the other half sat in the other room watching The Brits and at 9p.m. he came in and said - what was all the laughing about.

For me it was a real laugh out loud episode. I know it got all a bit heavy at the end but :

Minor spoily things if you haven't seen this ep :

Spike falling off the magic shop counter and screaming

Anya & Giles bickering like a couple 'yes, dear' (plus the kiss - oooh)

Don't mess with Joan

'Why didn't you just call me 'Horny Giles'

The father & son hug

Spike reeling off all the 'british' words and then declaring bloody hell I'm british too !

The whole - I must be a good vampire, maybe I'm on a journey of redemption, a vampire with a soul/well thats lame' conversation

The shark guy - you owe me 40 vietnmese kittens !! lol

Plus another ep ending with a Spike and Buffy snog - whatever next!!

Naughty Willow, promising not to do magic and then quick as a flash unpromises.

Excellent eppy all round. Loved Giles and 'Randy' as father and son. Giles and Anya as the 'engaged couple'. The kiss was hilarious. Plus the way the one magic book she picks up 'makes' bunnies. Joan was funny too. WOW I must be the leader cos I staked the vampire. (hehehehe). Spike with the shark guy (owing kittens) how daft is that? Also will be sad with Giles leaving yet again. :crying: Will miss him.

Loved the kiss at the end again. They obviously can't keep their lips off each other.

annette :D

I'm right there with you on that one LM ! with my man Giles gone, I may have switch my passions to Spike :naughty:

the bunnies everywhere...that was a great scene! And Giles fighting the skeleton..what was that all about???

[markpud: And Giles fighting the skeleton..what was that all about???]

I think it was a very quick tribute to Ray Harryhausen, the creator of stop-action animation, which was cutting-edge special effects for many years.

Remember the animated skeletons from "Jason and the Argonauts"? Giles' foe looked just like one of them. Harryhausen also produced several Sinbad films and "Clash of the Titans".

IMHO

okay - can comment now - UPN skipped OMWF and played this (weird stuff those network execs do - probably saving OMWF for closer to sweeps or something ridiculous like that) -- anyway....

TOO funny!

all-around character action going on --

and LOVED that suit and bowtie on Spike! :)

and can i just say that i'm starting to not like Willow -- i really used to, but now - nope nope - she's starting to bug me --

and why was Dawn so upset that Tara was leaving? didn't she know what Willow had done? i mean, sure, she should be upset that Tara's leaving, but wouldn't she understand?

oh - where were Anya and 'Alex' in the end sequence where they panned around everyone and what there were doing - Giles on the plane, Buffy and Spike at the bronze, Willow in the bathroom, Tara leaving --- but Anya and Xander - hmmmm --

i love the "Loan Shark" tho - that guy was Great!

and Joan the vamp slayer - ;)

and "Randy" - oh so funny!

[Highlander II: and LOVED that suit and bowtie on Spike!]

Yes, another bit of foreshadowing from #078 "Restless", almost. In that, Spike appears in a tweed suit, very similar to tonight's, and says that he is training with Giles to become a Watcher. Well, they got the suit right and a connection to Giles. That will make the people who see all kinds of hidden clues in every scene happy.

[Highlander II: and can i just say that i'm starting to not like Willow...]

Well, this was the unlikable Willow. They bring her out for shows where Willow screws up. Without doing spoilers, it is fair to say that they haven't been very consistent with her portrayal this season. From sober and hard-working with occasional bouts of willful stupidity. Maybe she's like my oldest brother, an alcoholic, but one that doesn't indulge every day - Willow goes on stupidity binges.

And since when has Willow been careless enough to leave flammable charms right by the fire? ...After we saw that she had them hidden away, she just walks off and leaves them lying out on the floor? This is The Details Girl, who suddenly gets sloppy? I don't think so.

[Highlander II: and why was Dawn so upset that Tara was leaving?]

You know, I haven't said anything about the anti-Dawn sentiment, but I guess it's about time I offered another point of view.

She supposed to be 15, for God's sake! Of course, she's a pain in the ass. Do you remember what you were like at 15? Or even better, has anyone got a 15-year-old younger sister? Come on, her portrayal is dead-on - Whining, self-absorbed, anxious to do all the adult stuff and believing that's she ready for it, stubborn - because she already knows everything she'll need to get through life.

If there's any 15-year-olds here, I'm sorry, but that's the way I remember 15.

[Highlander II: where were Anya and 'Alex' in the end sequence]

Boy, you really do have an obsession about screen time. Do you use a stopwatch? Have you thought about seeking professional help? Just kidding, but you do obsess.

The ending was about the changes taking place between now and the next episode - the viewers have to know that Giles has already gone, Tara has moved out and Buffy & Spike progress before the curtain opens again. Anya and Xander don't change therefore to include them would just be..... well, obsessive.

[Highlander II: i love the "Loan Shark" tho - that guy was Great!]

That one was a little over-the-top for me. And come on, he's a loan shark, oooohhhh what a horrible visual pun. I also thought the mask looked a little crude, but modern special effects may have spoiled me (this from a guy who as a child thought Buck Rogers' model rocket with sparks shooting out the back was how a spaceship should look).

[Highlander II: "Randy" - oh so funny!]

You know there was a baseball player named Randy Ready. Whenever his name was announced, I always wondered what the hell were his parents thinking when they named him?

the Anya and Xander thing wasn't about screentime - it was about 'closure' -- b/c Anya DID kiss Giles - and Xander thought he might be Willow's b-friend - it was more i was wondering how they were 'coping' more than anything else -

Dawn is 15 - sure - and i can see why she would be upset, but, i think she was a little over-the-top -- but that's just me - honestly, i liked Dawn better in season 5 -

well, yes, the loan shark pun was really bad, but that guy was still kinda funny - collecting kittens -- hmmmm -- wonder if that's a foreshadowing bit

From "As You Were" --> as in why Spike was nicking those demon eggs to sell, was he gonna find a way to pay his 'kitten debt'??

Do you know I have a theory that Spike is replacing Giles character in BTVS? But then again I could just be the sort of person who sees hidden clues in every scene...:D

actually -- i read in a a book - watcher's guide i think, that Joss wanted Spike to become the 'new' Cordelia - the one who just spouts off the straight truth about everything -

however - Spike replacing Giles? care to expand on that theory?

the thing that bugs me is that she is soo much more immature than Buffy ad co were back in S1 when they were 16 - only 1 years differnence - I mean Dawn is "inventing" pancake flavours and acting the kid all the time, I'd think that with all shes had to go through in her life, slayer sister, mom dying, sis dying, being reincarnated, that she would have grown up pretty fast....

yeah - that was my feeling too - she's a little *too* immature for 15 -

but - she gets coddled quite a bit - she's not forced to deal w/ stuff like Buffy was -- she didn't have to deal w/ not having a sister - b/c Tara and Willow moved in and fixed the bot - she wasn't left to 'fend for herself' - not that a 15-y/o could, but she didn't have to worry about it -

guess part of that is Buffy's fault too, tho - b/c Buffy didn't do much checking up on Dawn to make sure she was going to school, or doing her homework - she just assumed that Dawn was doing everything she was supposed to be doing -

any other angles on this i should argue? or did i cover 'em all? (including the one that'll get stuff thrown at me by markpud? :))

:D

nah - you'd never do that ---

i just like to provoke discussion -- it's a hobby of mine! ;)

so what do you thinik about the Giles/Anya kiss? Do you think it will come back to haunt her at some point? Perhaps if/when Giles shows up again??
