Well it sounds like C is more like 3 unit.
In NSW we have to do a minimum of 10 units for our HSC. So each subject is usually your standard 2 unit, but if you want you can pick up an extra unit in some subjects, meaning you do more than the standard 2 units of that subject. So for example...with 3 unit maths, we do all of the 2 unit curriculum and then a seperate three unit curriculum as well.
You can also do up to 4 units of a subject.
I generally make stupid ridiculous mistakes in 2 unit exams and then do better on average in the three unit. Go figure....
And Shaun, you would do well to remember that fact....especially when discussing or observing the weather....
