I dunno, eveytime I go back to watch Solitudes in S1, I get so annoyed. Does anyone else notice how Daniel keeps wrinckling up his forhead through out the intire ep. But he's got a cut on his forhead. I dont' know about anyone else but when I get cuts even little ones, is you stretch the skin around them it hurts. Danny doesnt' even flinch! Sorry just my pet peeve.
Anyone else have Stargate pet peeves?

yeah, things like pronunciations

""thor"" is not pronounced ""thor"", but ""tor""

and if someone like skaara is speaking egyptian, sometimes they get the pronunciation

and when danny goes blind into a situation i wouldn't touch with a barge pole. i'm like ""you have a phd for cryin' out loud, you're not THAT thick!!""

Look, you guys. The new Farscape epys, that we won't even get to see for months and MONTHS, are now being shown in Israel, for cryin' out loud.

Don't talk to me about being annoyed! I'm right there with ya! :angryfire :angryfire :angryfire

thanx, I love Blinky too. Man there was something that realy ticked me off in a S4 ep yesterday but I can remember what it was...I fell asleep halfway through & forgot about it.

sumthing that annoys me is whan ppl say Jaffa ja-FAR...I really dont know why - cos that the way its supposed to sound rite? Just sounds like something from Aladdin to me...:D

Hey all

I am very annoyed with myself because I missed Summit and Last Stand - I feel asleep :(

Now, becasue of those "$"$%£!"$"£ &$%£$"42!!! at the MPAA I won't be able to see them for a very long time (I'll have to wait 'till Sky One or Channel 4 get back round to it)

So as you can imagine, I am not amused, I am even tempted to pay the postage to send some letters to the US telling them what I think

ok, now that I've finished ranting and raving ;)

I thought that was how you said Jaffa (JA-FAR) isn't that the way the Goa'uld say it? The other way always reminds of Jaffa Cakes :D

Hey go over to the Season 6 forum, in one of the threads someone tells you to email them & they'll give you a site that those nasties haven't found yet. If you can't find it PM me with your email addy & I'll see if I can find it again. I've watched right up to Last Stand & I'm in Canada where they stopped us after Wormhole X-treme.

Oh it so reminds me of Jaffa Cakes! Imagine one with a staff weapon...lol!

That point also annoys me....

Jaffa - Sounds like 'jaffa' as in 'cake' (which I hate btw)
Ja-FAR- On the other hand was *definitly* the name of the bad guy in the Disney version of 'Aladdin'.

I've heard it both ways and I think you have to take into account the character and where that character is from. While I haven't kept track of who says Jaffa the two different ways, there's two different ways the word "Gou'ald" is said by people around the SGC.

Can't remember what Teal'c's take on it is. I can't find my post-it note with all the nit picker notes I made one day they said Gou'ald a bunch of times in a briefing. Technically, he should be the guide for pronounciation. He's a native of Chulak after all.

Sam and Danny pretty much stick to the 'right' way to say it with the stop in there. They get the first half and drop an "A" in the middle. For Danny, he's the linguist so he better get it right. Before seeing season one I was thinking that Sam learned it from Jolinar's memories, but now I'm not sure. She was saying it the same from the get-go. Sort of blew that theory out of the water.

Jack and Hammond smash up the word into something closer to "ghould." Like the ghost-type thing.

A tidbit I found out was that in the original movie, Jack does not say a lick of Gou'ald/Abydosian. This was a comfort to Kurt Russel when he heard about the language thing the others were being coached in.

This has bothered me too; in fact in my opinion, even Daniel pronounces it wrong. Something like ghould. The original Anise actress pronounced it gowld; I can't recall if the latest actress gets it right. Sam and Teal'c have always pronounced it correctly.

going back to the original question......:p

i have two pet peevs from the show.... one is how michael shanks tends to inadvertantly (I least i hope its inadvertant) do a pretty good james t kirk impression - you know... the... really big... gaps.... in between words.... just... for.... emphasis.... if he had the paunch he'd have it down pat

it also bugs me slightly how every time rda makes a wee quip, the camera cuts to a bemused carter - or occasionally a blank hammond. Just once i want carter to turn around and say "for god's sake Col. this is important!!!".
I think the closest anyone has come to actually doing this is in politics (or might be serpents grasp) when Hammond says "this is how I look when I am not laughing", which I have to admit is one of the best lines in the whole series.

well there you go, my 2c

Well, personally I cut some slack for the actors who have their voices flanged in post-production. (You know, anyone who's a Tok'ra or Gou'ald sounds like they're taking with their head in a trash can) No matter how they say the word it's going to be distorted.

As for pet peeves... I won't go into dialing errors, 'Gate errors and stuff like that. That's over in the technical forum. But maybe a kind of a head scratcher for me is how Carter got away with getting a motorcycle in her lab?

lol, yeh I can just imagine her getting out of the elevator and wheeling it past Hammond...

I can stand how everytime they find some new thing on a planet, Jack's if it's safe & Sam says I think so it's turned off...& of course we know what ever it is then comes alive usually by them turning it on & it tries to take over or destroy Earth!

And it's usually Danny that 1. turns it on or, 2. gets zapped. Has Teal'c done that sort of thing? Carter keeps shooting stuff through suns with the 'Gate (twice) so she's done damage like that in the past. My peeve about that is she didn't learn that lesson in 1969!

i agree! I was watching the one where Jack gets pinned to the wall in the gate roon (um, Message in a Bottle?), and at some point near the beginning Carter says that she would recommend a certain level of containment/quarantine - then when they are fiddling with it later (b4 it goes whacko), people are touching it with their bare hands and it is in a container open to the room - I mean, come on, what kind of quarantine is that???

ya, & in Season 5...Menace...won't give away anything but, good old Jack asks again in 'it's safe to take home' & Sam says, well ya...hmmm. Doesn't anyone learn from the Asgard & their curiosity?
