ST: VIII - First Contact

Not seen that. Don't really want to. Cumberbatch is a good actor, but I'm not taken with New Kirk, and I dislike pointless reboots. A whole reboot of the franchise is an opportunity to do something new, so why try and copy (and inevitably cock up) the best TOS film?

I fully understand where you're coming from - NuTrek just doesn't feel like Trek. I'm a big fan of Quinto and I enjoy his take on Spock, but Chris Pine's Kirk is definitely lacking. Hopefully the 3rd instalment will get it back on track; the ending of ST:ID hints that may be the case, and with Mr Abrams busy on that "other" franchise we have a chance for a new direction....

I just watched this again and I think it stands the test of time as the best TNG movie and probably even better than 'The Wrath of Khan' :devilish:

I can't really put it better than this (even though having a Queen of the Borg was wrong):

i have to say that star trek first contact is (so-far) my all time favourite trek film. it has in my opinion the best bunch of bad guys ever to appear on trek, it has cochrane ,the creator of warp travel, and action with data becoming more human than ever and the true heart of the borg ,the queen, revealed.
