Or the adventurers of Tom Torres and Ensign Eager!

What is it with writers and these male characters?
Geordi La Forge, Daniel Jackson, and now Harry Kim.
Tom Paris says "Well she's not Borg. she's not dead" but he failed to mention she was a homicidal maniac! These scripts do nothing for me, could any female fans tell me if it does anything for them- (Yes I know you all love Daniel Jackson) but do you really want these men to continually fall for the wrong women?

The race was good. The Neelix - Seven scene was good- and I usually find Neelix things a bit pathetic. The way they set up the Tom and B'Elanna thing was good.

Overall, I enjoyed it. Pity all Voyager hasn't beem like this.

it was a good episode, but I missed the 1st 15 mins, so I couldnt see any reason for them to be in this race???

Bizarre...and yes Kim seems to be about as lucky as Daniel Jackson with the ladies doesnt he...I thought he was getting on OK with one of the Delaney sisters last year, he'd be better off sticking with her ;)

Why were they in the race?

Well that's anyones guess!

They were out testing the 'new' Delta Flyer, as you do. They rescued that female alien as her ship was filling with gas, after racing her to the nearest comet. She told them about the race, Tom was obviously keen to take part. He asked the Captain, said they could make new friends in that part of the Galaxy. Tuvok didn't agree. Someone said it would be a drain on their resources. Janeway suprised him and said yes, she said it would be good R&R for the crew.

after all the preparing tom, and harry did for the race, then b'elanna just coming in at the last moment and taking harry's place, if i was him, i would have been a little bit miffed...peachy

Well, that's Harry all over. He's always been a carpet they just walk over.
Look at Tom, he's been promoted, demoted, thrown in the brig, and then promoted again.
And all this while Harry is still an Ensign.
He did ask for a promotion once I think, but it was in such a light-hearted way, I think Janeway thought he was joking.
If anyone needed an assertiveness course it would be Harry Kim.

OFAHK.

Shall I start an Organisation for the Advancement of Harry Kim. (OFAHK.)

WE DEMAND:

1) Promotion to Lieutenant, effective immediately, with 2 years back pay.
2) No more girlfriends who are dead, Borg, insane, or homicidal.
3) Give him his vaccines so he doesn't get anymore alien viruses.
4) Time off from duties to have Assertiveness Training.
5) If anyone needs to die and be replaced by a counterpart from an alternative universe, its not his turn.

Yeah Harry for Captain by the end of series 7 :D:D

RE: OFAHK

Harry Kim always has some bad luck on VOY. The actor who plays him (Garrett Wang) may have the same little bad luck charm. Here is an excerpt from Trek Today (by Christian):

Garrett Wang Rejected as Voyager Director

The Star Trek franchise has served as a breeding ground for good television directors, with actors such as Jonathan Frakes (William T. Riker), Alexander Siddig (Julian Bashir), and Robert Duncan McNeill (Tom Paris) all given the chance to helm one or more Trek episodes. Only one actor, Garrett Wang (Harry Kim), was turned down for a directing gig, and he is not happy about it.

"I'm the first actor to be turned down for a directinggig," he told British SF magazine SFX. "One by one they all got their slot, and I had always said to myself, 'Save the best for last. I'm going to come in there. show them little old Garrett...coming up with this amazing episode, but when I did ask, I was turned down by Rick Berman. I don't know why. I know that Rick Berman said something to the effect that he's not running a directing school here---well, you could have fooled me!

The rejection was especially bitter for Wang as he felt that he had always been extremely supportive of teshow. "I've given my life to Voyager," he told SFX. "I've given my energy, my passion and truly there's nobody of my castmembers that can say, 'Garrett wasn't into the show.' I cared. I so much cared. I was always the one who was trying to make other people care, [and] I feel that these things are unseen by the Powers That Be."

little star :)

thats a shame, poor harry, not even given a chance to direct. i think we should definatly start up a support group for harry...peachy

It does seem a bit harsh, Rick Berman saying that about not running an directing school!

Good actors don't necessarily make good directors, but all the ones who have tried have done a good job. I have read some posts on other boards, where people are very upset about this, especially about Jonathan Frakes directing the films. But I think he is very talented, and if people don't get the breaks they will never get the experience.

B'Elanna is hurt when Tom chooses to enter a shuttle race rather than spend time with her. Determined to make something positive of the occasion, she joins hom - but, isolated in the Delta Flyer, the conversation turns to their relationship. Harry is scared by Tom's singing.

Tom and B'Elanna finally marry for real. Harry tries to cosy up to a rabid xenophobic.

Aliens with name like O'Zaal and Joxom go to prove that it's not the shape of your forehead ridges that count, but the number of exotic consonants in your given name.
