That's plain bad business. I got burned on that sort of thing with Sekh's dogtag group last September. I hope something was done about proving you paid in case you never get your product.

Nope I didn't but Mish did. Trust me i will raise a ruckus and GET my vid if anything happens though;)

Ok so here is what I thought (if anyone wants to know!!)

I thought that is was such a great weekend. IMHO I thought it was far better organised then SG3 and it was a whole lot of fun!

Yeah there was queing (a lot of it) but I think its to be expected at a con and you didn't have to que if you really didn't want to, there was also some waiting around for stuff to start but thats also to be expected as the guests were trying to sign autographs and do photo sesions for a lot of people.
I will say that the whole seating thing was a nightmare as was the heat in the main hall but didn't really bother me.
I was lucky to have cocktail party tickets and that was held in a small room and was very hot but well worth it. I thought Bryan did a fab job and made sure that Michael and Amanda got around to everyone and at least said hello. I think Amanda woud have liked to stay all night and chat to everyone.
On Sat morning I got up early and wait for around an hour for photo tickets which was quite a wait but got them in the end (so again worth it!)
Didn't really have to wait for too long for a autograph either (not like at SG3) it was all over and done with and I think they kinda finished on time and the fancy dress party almost started on time. I think that was the worst thing as there is really not enough tables and chairs for everyone so I was stuck by the door but good all the same.
The video that wolf played was fantastic and seeing Michael and Amanda so emotional was quite sad.
Sunday again we got up really early and sat in a que for about two hours but got seats really near the front of the stage so in my mind it was really worth it. Also was a wait to have your photo taken with the guests but it was fun all the same Amanda try her best to keep us all laughing!
Now on to the guests....

Amanda was fantastic, she was funny all weekend inbetween crying over the fact that Michael has left and when everyone gave her a standing ovation after her last talk. She was just the best and I would go back tomorrow to see her!
Michael was also fantastic. I went there a Daniel Jackson fan and came home a Michael Shanks fan. He was ill over the weekend but he never let that get in the way of being nice to everyone. While standing and waiting for our photos with him he was sitting down with Lexa and looked very tired, fed up and ill...but when it was his turn to do photos again he always said hello to every fan and smiled ect. Some may say it was acting but I think he was a real trooper and such a great guy.
Tom was also great...felt a littel sorry for him looking like a dear caught in head lights but I had the chance to chat to him while he signed my photo for me and he was very sweet.

Overall I had a great time some of the best Im sure I might ever have.
I think Wolf did a grand job as did the guests.
Also great to meet some of the guys here and that made it extra special.

If anyone is thinking of going to SG5...please do and don't take what anyone said here into consideration. Go and find out for your self...I think you will have a blast if you don't go thinking that you can stroll into the main hall five mins before the talk starts and get a front row seat....or expect everything to run on time.
But apart from all that I had a fab weekend and Im sure I will think of more things to say soon....

:D

BTW it was my brother that posted myself and Susan with Michael here....

Pamie, you would mind if I used that quote on my MS Conventions site? I'd like to put up people's different views of the event ...

No, it wasn't me in the pic -- I wish it was, tho! It was actually a friend of mine, Lis, who graciously let me put it up despite knowing it would cause her eternal embarrassment ;-)

Thanks for letting me put your stuff up on the site -- I'm glad you like it. I didn't actually go to SG4, which is why I started the site, lol. I wanted a place to put up all of your lovely, drool-worthy experiences so I could go back every once in awhile, and wallow!

Comments huh? well here goes:

Wolf SG4 was my first con and I thoroughly enjoyed it, but this is probably because I visited as many Covention sites as possible (including the message boards on wolf's site) to get an idea of what to expect. As with most things in life, the opinions of each con seemed to vary greatly depending on who was giving them (after all, we are all our own people). I came to the conclusion that the main things to look out for were horrendous queues and the occasional over-zealous steward. Armed with this info, I found both of these as soon as I entered the door, but coz I was expecting them, they weren;t quite as bad as I'd been led to believe. So, good points and bad points:

BAD
1. Wolf have obviously out-grown that venue (Brian said as much while we were there). It was cramped, and too warm with so many people in a small space.
2. The queues were fairly huge, but never impossible to navigate (all the people I met got the stuff signed that they wanted)
3. There did seem to be a lot of waiting for the guests talks, I think this was due to everyone getting in the main hall early for a good seat combined with photo-sessions and autograph sessions casuing the actors to get to their talks late on some occasions.
4. I did spot the occasional over-zealous steward, but I also spotted some very helpful stewards who were doing their utmost to be of assistance, but not as loudly as the little-hitler types.

GOOD
1. Amanda Tapping and Michael Shanks were so goddam entertaining that, after the Saturday talks, I felt I'd had my moneys worth already. I'm a big sucker for hearing allsorts of useless info about what goes on the behind the scenes and that kinda stuff, so the sheer volume of info that was dispensed pleased me no end.
2. Meeting up with the people from ascifi (like pamie, anni, and summer to name but a few) was a real treat. Spending time with friends is always worthwhile, so I'm grateful for that opportunity.
3. Wolf had put together a few video montages to music (great for keeping the sweating masses amused while another delay took place) and I found that stuff really funny. Judging from the whoops and laughter from the hall, so did everyone else.

So all in all, I really enjoyed the whole thing. I don't think I'll go to another, but it was fab to say I've been to at least one.

I would recommend a con to anyone, but please bear in mind, you need to be prepared for all the stuff that I, and others have mentioned here. It'll be fun, but you need patience to sit thru a lot of the ****. I found it worthwhile, but not everyone will.

This is just MY opinion, I don't claim to represent the masses.

Keep smiling

Mish
