Well there went most of my knowledge on TOS. Maybe I should of paid more attention to it.

Either I don't understand the question, or I don't know. Is the answer in some dialogue?

i vaguely remember that episode, so i don't recall anyone being potentially chosen as a host ---

hmmmmm ---

either that, or like Dave, i'm not sure i understand the question --

Really? Ok I thought the question was quite simple ...

The answer is Spock his blood content made him and an unsuitable host for the salt vampire.

All the crew, even Spock, behave foolishly, and indulge in pantomine behaviour. They use these completely illogical actions to confuse and overwhelm Norman, the controlling android, and give him an electronic nervous breakdown.

 

[Dave]

I know! I know! I remembered!

Kirk: Everything Harry tells you is a lie. Remember that -- everything Harry tells you is a lie.

Harry Mudd: I am lying.

This paradox is the final straw. Norman is unable to work through it.

Just a guess, but is it fencing? I remember seeing him do it once.

 

[Dave]

He has several.

Fencing is definitely one. Collecting old police revolvers and hand guns is another. But Stripe is probably looking for Botany!

The miners open up a new tunnel which contains thousands of silver coloured silicon spheres. The miners removed them, without realising that they are actually the Horta's 'eggs'.
