Jack's Opinion of Jonas

hat, honey, please do not insult our intelligence. you know as well as i that what we are dealing with here is a difference of opinion in the interpretation of a character on a tv show. it is not a misunderstanding of "facts" which can be cleared up with a single quote of words spoken in anger. i have called my dear husband far worse but would hate to think that my words could somehow be described as "canon" in our relationship.
shanilka - who is oh so tired of the sniping...

Shanilka,

You may think I'm pretty being thin-skinned here, but I found your post particularly hurtful.

JoBeth referred to Jack's comment from 'Meridian'. This was comment was then attributed to "only some of the more rigid Daniel fans", which I feel was unjust and rather inflammatory.

I merely attempted to set the record straight in a polite and friendly manner. I'm sorry if you - or anyone else - read it in any other way.

Best wishes,
Hatshepsut.

we all have differing opinions....please don't make me figure out how to close a thread <G>

I think jack wasn't too crazy about jonas in the beginning...but he gave teh guy a chance. actually worked with him, got to know him and THEN formed his opinion. what a unique concept.

Jack doesn't think Jonas is a 'Lying incompetent coward', only some of the more rigid Daniel fans do. Jack is far too professional for that, and he did choose Jonas to be on his team, and did accept him as a part of it. And I can see why- Jonas seems to be quite a valuable member, he's smart, caring and stays true to his friends.. He's even saved their lives once.

If Jack had any doubts or mistrust towards Jonas, he wouldn't have chosen him to be on the team. But, as I have said before, Jack's likely going to see Jonas much the same way he saw Daniel, so they're probably never going to be really close.

Actually, in 'Redemption' General Hammond gave Jack a choice between Jonas and a Russian. The only reason he chose Jonas is because he hates the russians.

hat - i'm sorry if my post came across as harsh. my tolerance of the bickering surrounding jonas/season 6 has reached an all time low - which probably means i should just keep my mouth shut.

i'm reaching that same level shanilka.

Like it or not, like him or not...there are aspects of the fandom i don't like...i don't go over there and post how much i don't like it. I respect thier space and keep my opinions to myself. I've left mailing lists because the general attitude has changed.

I get frustrated at people who apparently aren't happy with a particular aspect that keep telling us again, and again, and again how bad it is and how sad it is. yep, ok, got it the first 10 times.

If a restaurant serves a dish i don't like...i don't keep ordering it just so i can keep saying how bad it tastes...i move on and try something else.

Jack finally accepted jonas, tentatively in redemption part 2...and he'd already made up his mind prior to being told about the russian team member. He accepted jonas even more in descent when jonas saved all their lives.

It certainly clears some things up.

Jack said that quite obviously in the heat of a moment. If he'd seriously meant he hated and distrusted Jonas and blamed him for anything, Jonas wouldn't be on the team. If Jack really didn't trust Jonas's loyalty and abilities, he simply wouldn't be there. It bears repeating: Jack *chose* Joans to be on *his* team. Some argue that he only picked him because he hated the russains more- but the implication of music and the way Jack spoke showed he had made up his mind prior to visiting Hammond. That's some canon for ya ;).

Jack once said to Daniel:

"I don't like most of what you say- I try to resist the urge to shove you through a wall"

Does that mean Jack hated him too, because he doesn't like what he says and feels the urge to assault him on occasion?
