Possible SGC protest...

I want to protest against the new SGC site, as it does not allow people from the countries outside the U.S. have access. Am I going about this wrong? Is Ryan trying to fix this? If not, where do I protest?

In otherwords us non US members just got a big kick in the ass and got told to F*** off..

a) is this "SGC" an official site related to the show?
b) what is the URL?

OK. Scuse me, but this entire thread is out in left field somewhere. Tiberius you are sort of going off half-cocked. You are blaming Ryan & his site for something that is NOT his fault!!! It's a contract thingy & Ryan nor the SGC has any control over it. So complaining about him or the SGC is fruitless. *sigh*

Extrapolating from what you have said, and thinking out loud: if a person was using photographs from a copyrighted television series, WITH PERMISSION, then the copyright holder could reasonably set restrictions on the usage of those images / works.

This is seen in merchandising, for example, where products are available only in the country of origin (typically the USA). I recall this applied/applies to some of the Gatecon merchandising.

Therefore if those images were used on a website, for example, the site-holder would be obliged to attempt some sort of country-based filtering of access. [Which is technically imperfect and liable to large-scale error.]

But all this is just thinking out loud based on relevant legislation/practice...

PeggyAn, I did not say that I was actually going to protest. Actually, I went about this the best way I could: I asked. Here are some examples:

I have blamed no one for anything:

I was merely attemptimg to figure out what is going on, as several of my acquaintances cannot access the site. The closest I have come to actually "blaming" anyone was here:

"Oh, I see. I go to MGM."

And if it seemed like I was mad here:

"Alright, who voted "Absolutely!"????"

I wasn't really mad, just disappointed that someone would be so mean to non-U.S. people.

I somewhat agree with Jedispara, but not in such harsh terms. I am not getting the bad end of the stick like he is, but I can look at his end from my side of the stick, and well... I don't think it is fair.
