The Matrix (1999)

Warner Home Video will re-release The Matrix in a new double-disc DVD special-edition package on April 29, three weeks before the May 15 theatrical release of The Matrix Reloaded, the first of the two sequels, Variety reported. On June 3, WHV will release Animatrix, a DVD with nine animated shorts.

I have a double-disc Matrix DVD which I got on sale for £4.49!!! I can't see this new release having any more on it.

One of the Animatrix shorts will also have a cinematic release before 'Dreamcatcher'.

And I'd have to disagree, there is something wrong with dumb, pretty boys if they're trying to do something intelligent. [/B]

Hey!! This "dumb pretty boy" is going to save the world!!

If you don't want to splash out £20 for the 2 disc set. Try your local garage or Little Chef, it may be found there for £6.

Matrix your thoughts

Well tomorrows the big big big big day, got my front row centre tickets and my brain is bubbling worse than a chinese firework. Here is my imagination: in the trailer it shows the french dude from revolutions and i quote " bring me the eyes of the oracle and i will give u back your saviour". In my opinion, i rekon morpheus will betray the oracle in order to bring back neo. Neo might become part machine because on the add a machine is shown going through him like he did to agent smith. Will this copy a file too?

Well thats my mind settle be free to argue amogst u r selves in here about what you think will happen:):rolly2:

Ah, thor! Welcome to the mindfrell that is the Matrix. Some of us have been speculating ad nausium in spud's thread, "hefty plot assumptions" at this URL: http://www.ascifi.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19057

Check it out before you see Revolutions tomorrow. :naughty: And did you see the countdown? You're not the only one looking forward to the Zero Hour release. ;)

So, you really think Morpheus will do what the Merovingian wants? You don't think that his faith in Neo's powers inside the matrix will be enough to get him back? I have a feeling that Morpheus and Trinity WILL take action to get Neo back, but I don't think Morpheus would be willing to take the Oracle's eyes for anyone. :disturbed Besides, I think the Oracle's going to help out Morpheus and Trinity before the two of them even see the Merovingian again. She may say that the Merovingian holds the key (again with the Mero and keys) to getting Neo back, proving her usefullness to them yet again. Remember, they still don't know what the Oracle said to Neo beyond the "you have to get the Key Maker" stuff. And they don't know anything about the Architect. Without Neo, they're just guessing.

Man, I can't wait! I'm practically jumping out of my skin! :rolly2:

The Matrix

Big question from the trilogy, if you had the choice, would you a. leave the matrix for the real world, b. stay in the matrix with no knowledge of the real world or c. stay in the matrix with full knowlege that the real world exists and that all you are experiencing is a lie. And WHY?

i hate being lied to ask my kids
this is the reason for the question. if you left, you'd learn the truth and not have your kids, but their memory would be real to you. if you stayed and knew the truth, how would it feel everytime you looked at your life?i like the truth, but i think i'm to old to learn that the most intrinsic truths of my world are a construct. i'd perfer to stay and not know.

I'd stay but not wanting to know my life is a lie - if I knew I'd always be wondering and that's not good for the soul.

I'd stay purely because it's what I know, death scares me because it's the unknown, same as leaving would scare me for the same reason - plus, they live on gloop, I'd much rather have a nice juicy steak!!!!

xx

If the people in the matrix were real, then yes, I would stay.
But I wouldn't want to be alone, with everyone else being the product of the matrix.

A philosophical question :D Cool! Unfortunatly for my pride, I'm about five years out of touch with most philosophical concepts  . Oh well, I think I can still answer this conundrum sensibly enough with my own biased thoughts ... I would probably leave. Afer-all, I would have, or gain, the comfortable knowledge that I could still live in a dream-world if I so chose by e.g writing, or simply sleeping. I've always wanted to do whatever is open to me ... so, that may not include going to Florance, or the Cote de Azure ~ but I was able, for example to go north to Glasgow. If I lived in the Matrix and was offered the opportunity to go somewhere else ~ and to actually live life, then I would liek to think I'd take that opportunity. However I suspect that I'd probably want to return to the safety of a comfortable existance inside the Matrix, although I'd hate the thought of being used by the machines and software...

If your choice was to leave the Matrix for a world as desolate as the "real world" of the movie, I'd prefer to stay in the lie. Scorched earth, nothing to eat but gruel, constant danger… if I wanted that kind of life, I'd have gone into sales.

If you could escape to an outside world, like in Logan's Run, THAT I would go for. Even if there are no guarantees—and of course there aren't—the potential of finding a bigger, wider, uncontrolled world would call me. But to escape to a confined and joyless existence doesn't sound like any kind of escape at all.

I'd be with Paige on this one

if the alterntive to living a lie was holed up in the dire little cave or spaceship with a bunch on over-testosteroned, corny, and decidedly sulky rebels I'd opt for the lie every time. Give me the machine any day.

In many ways, society as we know it is a Matrix. We have to live within it to gain its comfort and protection. Whether the society/Matrix is real or virtual becomes irrelevant when looked at from this point of view.

As I'm a creature of comfort, I'd stay knowing that there was a desolate and uncomfortable world beyond my little pod:)

I just re-watched The Matrix again today. There was much I remembered, both the lines and scenes, but some I had forgotten. What I would say is that this is an excellent film, an all-time great SF film, and it still stands up today. I'm going to watch Reloaded and Revolutions too, in anticipation of Resurrections but I'm going to be doing it with a great trepidation, as I only remember how disappointed I was when I first watched them.

Will you watch the animated stories too? I remember some of those being very good.

I think The Matrix being such a fine film only accentuated the problems with Reloaded and Revolutions. It’s my opinion that some movies work better as one-off events and not as a film franchise. This attitude probably explains why I’m a nobody who doesn’t work in Hollywood:)
