How many seasons do you think Buffy will last?

Buffy is obviously a very popular show, but how long can we expect it to last. The end of other very popular shows like The X files and Ally McBeal got me wondering about this.

We can't very well expect SMG to stay there indefinitely, can we? Although on the flip side, the cast of Friends seem to have managed to hold down varying degrees of successful movie careers without ditching the sitcom.

well - i'm pretty sure i don't wanna see 'geriatric Buffy' - b/c, well, they'd have to either do some excellent make-up on folks like James Marsters, to make the vamps still look 18-22-ish, or find a way for Spike to become human - or to wander off the show (which i really don't want, i like having him around) --

but- i think it could go a couple more seasons - if the PTB get their stuff together and come up w/ good quality storylines that get all the characters involved - otherwise they're just gonna irritate me, and i'll watch, but i'll be disappointed --

there is, as far as i know, gonna be a season 7 (unless i've heard wrong and they're done)

I would like to see it go on for at least two or three more seasons, but only if they keep it up to the same standed as it is now

yea I totally agree Sky, if the show gets shitty theres no use continuning it, but if they keep it up to the same callibur that they have it up to now, then they should keep churning out the seasons.

(just a quick note - keep an eye on the language - filters are supposed to catch that, but sometimes they don't get everything - just an FYI- forum rating is about PG-13, language rating is a bit lower than that)

tho true - if BTVS is to continue, it needs to maintain the high standard to which we have all become accustomed, otherwise we'll all give up ---

we need the episodes to be like "Intervention" and "Dead Things" (two of my faves - for various reasons - most notably the well-written storylines) --

just as long as they stay away from stuff like we got in 'Wrecked' or 'Ted' - we'll be fine!

Well, as far as I know, the stars are signed up for another season after this one, but at the same time, I don't hold out much hope for BTVS continuing much after that. Stars like SMG and Alyson Hannigan appearing in more popular films probably means that they'll want to move on in their careers, and yes, shows do survive without their main stars, ER without George Clooney for example, but what's the point of having Buffy the vampire slayer without Buffy. Angel might last longer tho', DB is a bit older and might appreciate having a regular paycheck.

yea I read that too...is that confirmed or is that when the contract is up and he doesn't know whtere it's going to be renewed or not?

It sounds more like an uncertainty than a definite ending to me *she hopes*

yea I hope it's not the end..I'm gonna cry if it is I live for this show!! :crying:

To be honest... I wouldn't shed too many tears if Buffy ended - we have had some great times, memorable moments, but as many people have mentioned, it is becoming a little disappointing. Imagine how hard it must be to live up to the barnstorming seasons two and three. So, while I will always love the show, as long as I have it on DVD at home, I don't mind if they stop making new ones. If Whedon can no longer be involved then perhaps it is for the best.

Although I will be totally devastated if they ever cancel Angel

Yea as long as I have all the Buffy seasons on DVD then I could survive...don't worry there's a few more seasons at least left for Angel..

I'm just gonna say - don't give up hope.

You never know what tricks Joss still has up his sleeves. He might turn around and shock your socks off!

Every show seems to go through one dull, dark season - but that doesn't mean the show has to stay that way --

Just keep watching - anything's possible! :)

yea i'm def gonnna be glued to my seat tomorrow night for the new buffy ep!! This one should be the best ep this season!

At least if what the article is hinting at and Buffy does end after Season 7, we can look forward to some explosive storylines - I mean Joss'll want to go out on a high. I just hope they don't end on an eternal cliffhanger - there's nothing worse than never knowing what happens!

people die? Ooh, wonder who? I reckon Spike - there's nowhere left for him to go, sniff..
