But unlike normal military service (most of the time) sometimes lying is the best way, especially if it is a moral issue, or something like that...

I mean the SGC isn't just another USAF posting

We also have to rememember that Jack was in Black/Special Ops for most of his military career. They aren't always held to the same standards as regular military because the jobs they do are so important and also so dangerous. Jack's lying may well have been necessary in a particular mission.

There are better candidates - established characters - available, so why bring in a complete outsider at the tail end of the programme anyway?

I still think that this is the most relevant point made here. Whether Jonas is an evil lying scum sucker or not, there are still multitudes of people more appropriate and more qualified for the job. I ask the question to TPTB, why not choose someone that your audience is more confortable with than throwing someone totally new into the mix? I still cannot believe that they will come up with a legitimate reason for him to be on SG-1.

I myself was never a huge Danny fan, but his passing did upset me. I think it would be an easier adjustment if we had someone who we are already familiar with. It would make his leaving less painful.

Seems to me like the makers of the show aren't too confident about the popularity of thei replacement either. They have definately stuck the new guy further back an while the lights are shning directly on RDA, AT and CJ he is slightly obscured by shadow. Still I'm not judging him till I see him in action. It took a while to accept Doggett in the X Files but I came to like him. Though once they put that new woman in it was ruined. One cast change a show can handle but change the whole team and your just dragging something on for the sake of revenues!

I agree, that you shouldn't judge before you've seen him in aciton. Also, it seems understandable that they might 'backseat' him, I'm not sure why they introduced him now rather than in the next series though.

Oh dear... look I promise I will give the new fella half a chance, but he sure does look out of place.

And, as a side note, he certainly does not come close to filling the eye candy role that MS did

Hmm, I can see that he looks wierd, but that's because we've been looking at MS for so many years. I wish he hadn't got his hair cut now, he looks way older. Even if we saw ... Tom Criuse in the pose he'd look wierd, it's just cos we're used to seeing MS AT RDA and CJ as one.

Jack is taller than Teal'q (maybe he was standing on a box?), his scar is on the wrong side and his hair has gotten darker. He still looks good, though. I love Amanda's hair this season and CN IS standing about 1/2 a step away from her. Don and Teryl should have been in on this photo shoot.

Hatshepsut, you should check out Andromeda. It's pretty cool.

Yeah it looks as if the photo has been flipped - either that or they are all left-handed (check the gun holsters), which seems unlikely!

It also looks as if Tealc is standing slightly behind O'Neill, so that might explain the height difference.

I'm not so sure it's that sensible releasing group pictures like this before fans have even seen any new episodes. Judging on most people's opinion, he's got his work cut out to prove himself. They might be easier to accept once the new team have established. Showing them so soon, is almost like rubbing salt into the wounds and is hardly going to help soften fan attitude at all imo.

I'm glad to see (from my current website poll) most willing to "wait and see" - I think this is the fairest way
