Lets have a vote for what and when series 6 should be?

Lets have a vote for what and when series 6 should be? (probably a bit premature but what the hell...)

1. A Federation ship
2. On a planet
3. On a space staion
4. On another species' ship
5. Other

A. Enterprise time
B. TOS time
C. VOY time
D. Other

I still think that star trek should of taken a break after Voyager but anyway if they do get to a sixth show:
4. On another species' ship
I think it would be great if it had a few humans on an alien ship (made from parts of several species)
D. 50-100 years after Voyager
And not a perfect time with only a few skirmishes and minor wars either. Something different.

I think it's all been covered now, only thing left is the far future, with a 'Timeship' going back to correct any infringements of the Temporal Prime Directive'.

1. A Federation ship or Spacestation

A. Enterprise time or Post Voyager

If it's Enterprise time, spacestation
Post Voyager, Federation ship

To be honest am getting fed up of ST with them nine times out of ten being 'stuck' on a ship. Would like to see them land a bit more. Loved the eppy of Voyager 'the 69's'. You saw voyager land which was sooooooo cool but another series could probably do with being based around a planet with 'whoever' helping others in distress by taking off in spacecraft (if you get my drift)

I liked the idea of the Promenade on DS9, which was never fully utilised IMHO. We only really saw Quark's bar, Garak's Tailor shop and the Klingon Restuarant. I like Annette's idea of some kind of off-spaceship series, maybe set on an 'orbital' or 'ringworld' around a planet, with non-Starfleet characters -- maybe with policemen or emergency services. Is that the kind of idea you had, Annette?

Yes thats the sort of thing, that would make a definite change.

Bit of a Freudian slip there? ;) The episode was called "The 37's".
And I like them on a ship (maybe not as starfleet though), that way they can go where they want.

Oops!!!!!!!!!! NO I wasn't thinking of other things. :p My excuse is I get confused easily these days, blame the kids!!!!

I was in the library at the time. Head wasn't on straight. Thinking of things to do and places to go.

What petition???????? Ideas for the next series of ST????????

It was a real shame we did not see more of the promenade in DS9, we could have really learnt alot about the community spirit and how commerce (SP) was in the furture... And how starfleet got on when they dont have any money ??

If that was the case with Starfleet not having money how come the Ferengi had star pressed latinum? Didn't anyone else use this for paying for things?

I would go for 5A.

Maybe a war going on... How baout a VOY like theme, but this time they are lost beyond the Delta Quadrant, their ship is almost completely destroyed, and they are forced to evacuate onto a nearby Class M planet. Once here, they try to build another ship somehow, but they are stopped when another alien ship is stranded on the same planet. This is when the war starts...

If there was a Series 6...

Have they run out of ideas?

Braga and Berman have been talking about the future of Trek. They think it was a mistake to have DS9 and VOY running at the same time, and they are happy to let 'Enterprise' run on it's own.

When asked what they would do if Paramount did commission a new series...

"Then I guess we'll have to pull out that old Starfleet Academy script!" Braga quipped. "It doesn't exist!" Berman countered. "I can tell you in all honesty, we have never even discussed doing a series set at Starfleet Academy, much less written one."

Apart from that idea, and the 'Timeship' idea, both of which were discussed as possible Series 5 ideas, I have never heard of anything else.

We are already getting recycled stories, due simply to the fact that there is already so much Trek out there, and a limited number of possible plots. Do you think it is possible for them to come up with an original idea for a new series?

I think there is scope for future series, with certain provisos:-

1/ How bad Enterprise becomes by its last series.
2/ It does not start the moment they end Enterprise.
3/ It takes at least some of the suggestions in the thread How would you improve Star Trek? Seriously on board, particularly depth, continuity and story.
4/ It is written and planned properly before they start filming.
5/ Berman and Braga have no hand in the writing and production. They are too stale and the concept of what Trek has become, is beyond anything they are able to write.

What would it be about?

The Academy story could be interesting, if it means we see some more of the races that make up the Federation and how they have to adapt to become Star Fleet people.

A real attempt at a Voyager type series, could also work, provided it digs deeper into character, the struggles involved and they are not quite such mindless 'Goodies'.

Or how about a Fleet Lark variation? Where things are not quite what they seem.

I would not like to see a series about Timehoping. I don't bother watching Time Cop because it is pointless.

I'm not sure if there's anywhere to go from here, as they've been there and done everything.

The only idea that could be interesting and different, IMO, would be to have a series in which they explore that Dyson Sphere they found in the TNG episode called 'Relics'. Those things are huge, they have the area of millions of Earth-like worlds and would have enough things waiting to be discovered to keep Starfleet busy for many years. If you've read Larry Nivens 'Ringworld' series you'll know what I mean.
