Bonfire night is when us loony Brits celebrate a man named Guy Fawkes failing to blow up the government. We have fireworks displays (to signify the gunpowder used) and light bonfires (to toast marshmallows!). Sometimes we make 'Guys' - stuff old clothes to make a human shape and put it on the bonfire. Not entirely sure why - I don't think Fawkes was burned at the stake or anything.
Bonfire night is also known as Fireworks night, or more properly Guy Fawkes Night.

To any of you that also read Harry Potter, this is why the pheonix is called Fawkes - 'cos of Guy Fawkes.
