He is still a secondary character. The poll is about the major characters. Not trying to start a fight, but that was my feeling when I made the poll in the first place. The people I left out, I left out on purpose. But I suppose on that basis, maybe Chewie shouldn't be there - I know quite a few people who would pick him as their fave.

Leave him up there, people obviously feel a lot more strongly about him that I was expecting. I am happy with additions being made, within reason.

Leia? I don't think so. When did she ever save them? She blew the grate off the trash compactor, causing them to come close to incineration, then she went to Jabba's palace and got caught. She was a good character, just no someone I would vote for in this poll.

I liked Leia well enough but there was just something missing for her to be my fave hero. If it came right down to it Padme was a better choice as far as being a good role model for the girls I think.

Padme or Leia? That's a tough choice. I liked Leia better, but maybe Padme is more of a hero? Leia did kill Jabba though - that was pretty gutsy, taking on that monster.
Mind you, Padme did pretty well against that cat thing in AOTC too.

According to the trivia section in imdb, Leia is the best shot - she never misses, apparently. I reckon that's gotta be another good reason to vote for her

I think Leia and Padme are good examples of female characters which are based in a male dominated genre.

When comparing both characters today, Padme would come out as the strongest female character.
However, the Starwars original triology was made 1977-83. I'm sure at that time Leia was a good role model for girls. (Though I actually preffered to play with my Han Solo toy..... I actually lost Princess Leia down the drain. )

If I recall correctly she only shot one of the stormtroopers when she and Luke were trapped on the ledge in ANH. Other than that she didn't shoot very often.

Hrm... Leia or Padme? I think I'd personally say Leia. I don't know, Padme just doesn't seem as... derring-do, somehow. Maybe its all those handmaids

Hey! It's not like she had a choice in the matter! Besides, she was supposed to get caught... that was in Luke's vision, it was all a part of Luke's plan.

Besides, it was the last time he had an opportunity to see her that way... :naughty: After that, he had to be all brotherly. :dead:

As for Padme vs. Leia as to who was more "heroic" I'd go with Padme. After all, who do you think was Leia's inspiration?

Just saw AOTC again today, so I was reminded of Padme's courage in facing the droid army with all those Jedi. Frell, I'd probably just hide out somewhere and let the professionals handle it. She may not have been a queen any more, but she used to be one, and she was still a senator. You'd think she'd be used to people doing things FOR her, but there she was, right in the thick of things. Pretty damn heroic, if you ask me.

Went for Luke Skywalker as he was prepared to go into atrap to save his friends & confront his father in 2 battles & that for me makes him a hero

Oh, there's no denying that Luke (and Han, Wedge, Obi-Wan, Leia and the others) are heroes. Completely and totally true. But who is the "greatest" hero in the SW saga?

So, you think Luke's a greater hero than Obi-Wan or Yoda?

He was always my fave. And even though I voted for Yoda as "the greatest" hero in the saga Luke will always be MY hero. :blush: Ask any of my friends, they'll tell you.

Definitely for me it have to be Luke. For me Luke Skywalker is equal to Star Wars. Totally love him in the originals. I have to say that my second after seen the sequels have to be Obi-Wan Kenobi. But Luke always will be my favorite hero of Star Wars.
