Batman

i think part of the reason i've liked batman so much is the amount of detail and work that goes into the story. that and the 'real' feeling it has to it. you get the feeling that a lot of these stories could really happen.

This was definitely true of the old B+W films and Forties books!

No special powers, just extreme acrobatics. Even the car's only real claim to fame was it was bulletproof. Oh and Alfred drove!

I didn't know that! The only time I remember Alfred being very actively involved in the superheroing is during the Knightfall saga.

I agree with the attraction of Batman being his effective humanity - I will forever be rooting for Batman when he faces off against the blue boy scout, Superman.

That is true & I too find the whole 'Batman' thing appealing & that there COULD a real strong chance of these stories actaully happening

did anyone watch, or read, any of the batman superman adventures? (not sure what the comic series was called, but something along those lines). i saw like one ep and it was pretty cool. my brother told me that usually it's just one or the other, but in this one they were like fighting with each other. bruce was taking lois out for dinner, which of course ticked off superman. then lois gets kidnapped while they're on the date, so of course superman blames bruce. then they kind of fight over who's gonna go save her. it was pretty interesting.

sometimes. not so much when they do either one or the other, but when they do the crossover eps it's pretty good.

Hi guys :).

Seeing as Bat's is me no.1 favourite superhero I just had to post something here :). The alternate stories mentioned earlier are all under the banner of "Elseworlds". Batman was the first hero to feature in this series, infact for quite a while he was the ONLY hero to feature. What this series does is take the hero and put him in another time/place/situation from the one you normally see him in. Classics from this series are as follows:

Batman: Holy terror - America is a religious utopia that rules the world and Bruce Wayne is a priest. very good and very dark.

Batman: Gotham by gas light - Bruce Wayne is in Victorian London and has to stop Jack the ripper. Nice adapted costume.

There is also one other who's title I can't quite think of at the moment, it's another Batman story, this time he's fighting Dracula.

Elseworld have now included many other heroes from the DC universe with Superman being the second most used.

Elseworlds is fun, but sometimes it gets a little bit predictable as they try and drag every single character that is related to Batman (or whichever hero is being spotlighted) into the story. I know this is kind of the idea, but sometime's it just grates.

I think Kingdom Come was published under the Elseworlds banner, and it is probably my favourite Elseworlds story - Batman's character was probably inspired by Frank Miller's take on Bruce Wayne in The Dark Knight Returns, but still one of the best portrayals of Batman ever IMO.

I agree with ya wholeheartedly on that Tabitha, Kindom come was one of my favourites :D

one of the chicks i work with has started buying comic books for her son, so when she goes to kay bee's to buy them we get to read them b4 she takes them home. lots of fun:D now i don't even have to buy batman comics;)
