Last Comic/Graphic Novel You Have Picked Up

Hello ilikedrawing, you should introduce yourself in the introduction section. I hope you like it here, I don't.

I have just got a hold of 'Wolf in Shadow' and 'Legend' graphic novels by David Gemmell. They are both signed and in immaculate condition. The artwork is stunning and the stories are very good, as I expected.

Oh and my copy of Record of Lodoss War has finally arrived. Not sure what to think of it. I think I will get the complete Couching Tiger series next month.

Just got this:

A bleak, brilliant adaptation of Kafka's tale by the artist probably best known to you as the man currently handling the Spy Vs Spy feature in Mad magazine.

I read it when I was younger, but I guess it went rather over my head, as I wasn't particularly bothered by the story. In fact, I've entirely forgotten it. Repressed memory?

It's actually a very simple story. Travelling salesman Gregor Samsa wakes up transformed into a giant cockroach. In the days that follow, he watches the family that once revolved around him drift away into horror and indifference. Ultiamtely, he dies in his room and is thrown out by the cleaning lady. The relieved family goes on train holiday and plans their future. You can interpret it any way you like.

Kuper's art is bloody brilliant.

Your enthusiasm for this tale is rubbing off on me mate... I might buy the graphic novel version, that way I am not completely retracting on previous statements. :p

Just finished a series called king of Bandits Jing. Pretty interesting story line and an even more interesting universe. I don't really know how to describe the whole Jing universe, it's pretty crazy, suffice to say that anything can happen. The art is also pretty awsome, lot's of little easter eggs through out the books. So far chapter one is out, volumes 1-7. The next chapter is supposed be in the works. You can bet that I'll be waiting with bells on.

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (Volume One)...:D What is Volume Two like???
Well, volume 2 is really good, more action packed than the first and some...shocking events. But it puts it into a situation that would make it hard pressed to make a volume 3. How awesome was the fight between the chinese and the british on the blimp with all the kites though? I freggin' loved it!

I guess the last one I got was Batman/Superman: Public Enemies. I really enjoyed it since I haven't read alot of Batman or Superman (something I need to change). I also finished volume 2 of The Ultimates. And call me impressed. Some of the best story telling/writing/art I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Loved it. I've also been catching up with the Ultimate X-Men titles which are good.

Global Frequency by Warren Ellis.
In some ways it felt like covering the same ground he'd already done in Planetary, but Global Frequency is darker: less fantastic and more topical.

I picked up this very cool comic which is a fictionalised version of HP Lovecraft's life. Naturally it pits him against yuggoths, cthulhu and so on. Actually, a very well told and brilliantly illustrated story.
