what do you like about jonas

I didn't realize just how fanatical some of the "fans" could get, but I wouldn't mind if just my pseudonym and no other information appeared. Those who really have no life other than to diss TV characters, can hunt for my contact information -- just as they can after reading my posts here.

i don't care if folks know what i said about jonas...i've always been open about my opinion. If other folks don't agree with my opinion...fine. I know I don't agree with theirs. And if they're so bored they feel the need to flame me... whatever <G>

as to liking jonas...well after seeing him at gatecon, i like him even more. Corin Nemec is a perfectly adorable guy, with a great sense of humor and a fun spirit.

One of the things on the studio tour was jonas' office. It doubles as Sam's lab and was also Daniel's lab (basically one office...many uses <G>

One thing that impressed me is how small everything is....i mean the infirmary looks huge...but it's about the size of my livingroom.
Hammond's office would fit in my bedroom. (and i got to sit in his chair!!! *bounce*)

the prometheus set is large...but very twisty. I see how they could make 40 square feet or so look like dozens of corridors.

about the only part of the set that's huge is the stargate/control room/briefing room. they are just like they are on the show...three big inerconnected rooms

but....back to jonas :rolly2:

he's great and after meeting the actor, i like the character even more

The writers could have made CN's entrance into the Stargate world a lot easier, but they didn't and there's no going back. There are things I'd like to see giving JQ more depth and more background, but unless I take the time to write it myself as fanfic, I'm not going to see it (and right now I have two large research papers and a ton of reading for my degree -- plenty to do).

So, I'm determined to sit back and enjoy whatever I can get out of whatever TPTB produce. The more I see of CN the more I like him. I just wish some of the more beligerant fans would settle down and let it slide. MS made his choice, TPTB made theirs, and we watch or we don't -- that's our choice.

Of course, if John Crichton will no longer grace my screen in that tight black leather, maybe JQ could consider a wardrobe change . . .

mmmhm...jonas in leather...now THAT would be nice!!! ;)

I see Corin very much as an innocent bystander. He got called in to fill a position and do a job. It's not like he pulled a tonya harding and whacked nancy kerrigan (MS) on the head to 'steal' his job.

I did really like the very warm welcome and loud cheers he got during his panel. While some may not like the character they either refrained from showing that dislike in the auditorium...or were drowned out by others. And for that i am very grateful.

on the stage he struck me as a very open, friendly, fun guy and i can see him fitting in well with the atmosphere of hte rest of the cast and crew

I like everything about Jonas (does that suprise youcoming from me?)
I am actually very happy to see that other people are appriciating the character Jonas.
Lately I have just been so fed up with all the trash talk about him.
So I am happy now to see stuff like this! :rolly2: :rolly2:

Jonas has a great deal of potential, but much of it remains unrealized because the writers seem to be unsure of how to handle the cast change. Too much Jonas and the Daniel fans complain, too little and Jonas fans are unhappy. Tough tightrope to walk, but I expect that as professionals the team the produces SG1 can come up with satisfactory compromises.

An episode focusing on JQ's past, his life on Calonna, perhaps a rocky relationship scene with Jack ("I have to command you and bring you home alive. That's it. I don't have to like you.") and some resolution to that relationship. After all, JQ joined under dubious circumstances and those cannot just be swept away -- not in the minds of the other characters (would appear very phoney, esp. for Jack) nor in the minds of the audience.

I want the writers to give JQ some moments where he really gets to ACT, not just be along to fill in a gap in the team. Daniel is gone and the team dynamic has to change. It shouldn't do it instantly nor easily. It should take time and there should be rough moments.

it would be nice if we'd get more of jonas' background. I've heard rumors that we might find out a little more in the last 11 eps.

and i do agree with you webmouse...they're danged if they do and danged if they don't. Put Jonas center stage and folks scream, put him in the background and other folks scream.

Here's hoping that they ignore 'us' and tell their stories.

A good storyteller tells a good story. And if it is a good story it will find some way of pleasing most, if not all.

The writers should be thinking about what makes a good story, with a balance of the team, and a sensitivity to the fact that JQ is the "new guy" about whom they shown damn little. If they opt to focus a little more on him, those that are displeased should bear in mind that the lad is 5 years behind his team mates.

I trust we can all be adult enough to handle it. :D

jessa likes EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!! EVERYTHING I TELL YOU!!!!!!! AND HE'S MINE!

(i'd watch out if i were you, i think i'm gonna be as bad as i was with jack a few months ago ;) )

I have to say i like Jonas too, although I've only seen the first two eps he seems a nice guy and is kinda cute......

jonas in leather....................

oops! sorry drifted off there for a mo!

Just wanted to ressurect this thread by telling you all that it made me smile reading it :) it's nice to realize that not everyone is against Jonas (or Daniel for that matter). I adore both of them and wouldn't have it any other way.

I really enjoyed the interaction between Daniel and Jonas in the S7 opener and hope we can see much much more of it in future eps.

So far, Jonas is slated ONLY for the episode "Fall-Out", which will concentrate on Jonas back on his homeworld.

otherwise, he's not in season 7 past that.

As for season 8, who knows?

Every one

I like Jonas for several reasons but the first one is probably my continual amusement at the way the things some people like about Jonas are also the things that annoy other fans

Yes I have a soft spot for him as an underdog and then there's that dachshund like earnestness -

Webmouse and others - did you know Corin's parents lived in Arkansas before they came to LA ?

The Doc - lack of Jonas material - well you're welcome to cite any of my fanfic featuring Jonas or JonaHexed - there's some very mild whumping here and there but no hostility.

If you enjoy the fanfic I could do a JonaHexed interview and the upcoming Capercon will be narrated by JonaHexed!

PR TIME

Okay I've finally finished that slash parody or rather farce I've been threatening to write - just had to wait to think of a gag ending ... Anyway Jonas "does" Jack or tries to with help from Teal'c ... contains no graphic sexual imagery however lots of teasing bizarre imagery innuendo terrible puns and erotic revenge and you may never be able to regard a geometry kit as an innocent object again after what Jonas does with it!

http://www.geocities.com/scholara/MiniS.htm

and at Sassy Gate - same url but change final file name to sassyG.htm we still have the Junior Memorial story and an interview with Goldie.

Now excuse me - I have to open a box labelled Sassy and Goldie's Souvenirs from their visit to the Enterprise! I've been postponing opening it for fear of what I'll find!

Neith

if you can appreciate Corin in a pink apron and a hathor wig you probably be amused by the fanfic and maybe Corin would too?

Yep, I knew that Corin was from Arkansas. May be one of those reasons I like him, sort of a kinship thing. I got a lot of kin from Arkansas (like my mother, for instance)

Just getting a bit wistful here, but I'm really missing Corin's smile. Michael's eyes are a wonderful blue and that helps, but there is somethine especially engaging about Mr. Nemec's smile.

Hope to be seeing it again.

(And then there's that leather . . . )

:O Wow, that's a good start... Corin, neighbor :D

I Just met Jonas so I'm reserving my judgement so far, I've seen only 3 episodes with him in it and so far I like him, nieve and eager to please so far is how I'd discribe him

What I liked best about Jonas was the sight of him leaving the SGC for the last time.
