Not sure where this belongs but...

Just read this announcement in Another Place:

"Michael Shanks to join cast of the new Battlestar Galactica on SCIFI."

Does anybody have any information about this?

Best wishes,
Hatshepsut

Huh?

News to me. I didn't know Sci-Fi was considering redoing BSG, let alone MS in it.

What is this 'Another Place"?

Well, the MSOOF page is woefully out of date and not worth checking until someone puts some "new" newsworthy news on it. Michael Shanks Online page goes up to "Children of the Monsoon" (2002), last update appears to be mid July (assuming I reading those backwards dates correctly :) ) -- no mention of any upcoming TV roles. The Unofficial Michael Shanks page makes no mention of "Battleship Gallactica" either.

It is possible that the SciFi mention is a fishhook -- something tossed out there by the producers and casting agents to see what sort of heat it generates. So, lets warm it up, friends. I'll send SciFi a note and see what they say.

Oh, just stumbled on this thread... Having the webmistress of MS Online visiting at the moment, she says that she doesn't think that the rumor is true. Apparently MS has mentioned sometime that he wanted to be in it and there is a new BSG, but most likely he isn't in it.

But you never know... Jean says that she will update the page when she gets home, and she'll know for sure then.

Thanks for the update. Here's hoping that MS is offered and accept the role. :)

Hope this does come true...would be great to see him in something else! :D

MS

I think he'd make a great Lt. Starbuck.

Just found this ...

Even though it's a couple of months old, here's some info.

Moore Preps Galactica

Screenwriter Ronald D. Moore filled in a few blanks about his plans for the SCI FI Channel's upcoming Battlestar Galactica miniseries. "I'm in the middle of working on the script," Moore wrote in an e-mail exchange with SciFi Pulse that was reported on Cinescape Online.

Moore added, "The basis of the miniseries will be a retelling of the origin story; that is, the events that cause [the ship] Galactica and the fugitive fleet to begin their journey. There will be familiar characters from the original show, and new ones as well. I'm trying to flesh out the backstory of what led up to these cataclysmic events as well as round out many of the characters and their relationships. I can tell you that both the studio and the network are very happy with the outline and that things are going exceptionally well with this project so far."

so it's a rumor of a rumor of a rumor.
stranger things have happened. it'd be cool if he'd land another show.
good luck to him

Ah, but it takes the wonder of the web to spread a rumor of a rumor of a rumor far and wide :rolly2:

It seems likely that a new B.G. mini-series may actually happen. :)

Who knows, if the people involved:

1. see all the interest their project *and*

2. register the expressed desire of fans to see Michael Shanks in a starring role in it *and*

3. are aware of all the support for him as focussed in the SDJ campaign, *and*

4. those people have a little more vision than those among T.P.T.B. who didn't realize what a treasure they had in Daniel Jackson and just let M.S. walk away from them,

*then* it might happen....

Best wishes,
Hatshepsut - a lot less of an optimist than she used to be :(

The fans have enormous power -- if they have the will and the organization to use it. TPTB don't listen if there is nothing for them to hear (hmmm, I think I'm beginning to sound like Oma Desala :D)
