hi guys-stargate box set

but to be honest it wasnt small nudity!, it was a full frontal, including down below of a woman, they cant show that if u are 15!

You might be surprised what can be allowed...
Certainly they are allowed to show "brief nudity", particularly in the context of the plot.

The problem may be the duration, the basic unnecessariness of it, and the fact agression is used, and the violence and nature of symbiote attack.

The following is quoted from the BBFC site for 15:
Theme
No theme is prohibited, provided the treatment is appropriate to 15 year olds.

Language
There may be frequent use of strong language; the strongest terms (eg '****') are only rarely acceptable. Continued aggressive use of strong language and sexual abuse is unacceptable.

Nudity
There are no constraints on nudity in a non-sexual or educational context.

Sex
Sexual activity and nudity may be portrayed but without strong detail. The depiction of casual sex should be handled responsibly. There may be occasional strong verbal references to sexual behaviour.

Violence
Violence may be strong but may not dwell on the infliction of pain, and of injuries. Scenes of sexual violence must be discreet and brief.

Imitable techniques
Dangerous combat techniques such as ear claps, head-butts and blows to the neck are unlikely to be acceptable. There may be no emphasis on the use of easily accessible lethal weapons (in particular, knives).

Horror
Sustained or detailed infliction of pain or injury is unacceptable.

Drugs
Drug taking may be shown but clear instructive detail is unacceptable. The film as a whole must not promote or encourage drug use.
Film/TV censors and their limits change - and it is entirley possible that if the episode were re-applied today, the age limit would be less (i.e. 15).

so what your saying is...., a couple of people could be naked during a entire film, but not talk or have sex or anything related and it could pass for a 15???, hmmm cool! lol

Yes I have the special edition of series one. The best of... contains 4 eps but not in order. Thats an 18 cert. Then 2 of the discs i have are rated 12 and the rest pg. Never noticed anything different on them to what was shown on tv though.
Kind of irritating that they brought out a disc with four eps on and now I'll have to go buy the box set and have those eps twice!!!

They certainly cut the pilot Children of the Gods - but I don't imagine they would have to cut much, if at all, to get a 12 rated episode shown at, for example, tea-time on a Sunday (which, for the benefit of non-UK people, is when the terrestrial showings are typically done).

to be honest i dont care, my box set is getting packed to be sent as we speak as long as my parents dont see it, its alright!

Its the store owner (who potentially faces a multi-thousand pound fine) who has bigger problems... :)

It's ok if you order offline and you are under age. It is bought through your parents card which is proof of age ;)

I don't think my folks will mind, my Dad sat and watched the Excorist with us when my mate bought it around, which is certaintly an 18 ;)

i ordered it from my card, which is a solo, i am 16 years old and basically who cares!, i aint gonna tell anyone that they have broken the law as i dont want it to get closed down!

Ah - the old "plastic = proof of age" fallacy... :eek7:

well its a solo card, which means' its meant for 16-17.99999999's so they should pick up on it, when i recieve the dvd's which i might add are in the post can i black mail the company?

Well I received the box set yesterday morning and watched the whole lot in one go. Was quite surprised that while all of the single DVDs I've got have subtitles, but the box set doesn't.
And is it just me or is there a glitch in 'The First Commandment' where the audio doesn't match the picture? (Connors is speaking and his lips move out of sync).

Well - you learn something everyday:- I didn't know that, and presume the shop didn't either. I wonder how many of the shops online are aware of it really!! However, you are probably also liable, since I would guess that any "reputable" company (e.g. Amazon) will have a "by placing this order I am confirming I am over 18" type box on the page

You could, but I would suspect this is actually a "worse" crime than supply of barely adult DVDs to someone marginally under age.

I guess this really is just a case of converting the US region1 titles, which themselves do not have English subtitles. Though they do have French and Spanish, which I have used once or twice to see how things are written (e.g. naquadah)(and to see typos e.g. p4h-771 in "Solitudes" ;))

Can't say I noticed - where abouts on the track?
