Why did you start watching Stargate?

I actually stumbled onto it while surfing through the channels! There was nothing much on so I turned back to Stargate SG-1. I hadn't seen the movie so I didn't really know what it was about but I soon got hooked on to it and I must say that I've become a dedicated (some say addicted) fan to Stargate SG-1. It's a great show with lots of oppurtunities and great actors.

If I could i would be present at every convention and I would love to get my hands on some merchandising. But for now I keep myself satisfied with the reruns of Season 1 on the Belgian tv (Channel 2) and Season 5 on the French tv (RTBF), and of course with my fanfiction.

I saw the movie and thought it was great but never knew there was a TV show. One day i was flipping channels adn stumbled upon it. I watched what was left that hour and instantly became a dedicated fan, watching evey episode that aired on my local channels. and well it all eventually led me here:rolly2:

Why I started watching

I started watching it for one because of RDA, but mostly to see how he would take the original SG concept from Film to TV. I thought the movie was ok, but didn't think Kurt Russell played O'Neils role well, I thought he played it too monotone and he didn't have a fun personality. I guess that's the military for you.

I love archaeology and anthropology and once I started watching the way they delved into it, I GOT HOOKED. I think RDA brings a whole non-military attitude into it, unlike the way that Kurt Russel played him. The one thing that I am totally thankful for is the fact that they have a strong woman figure opposite O'Neil. There is not enough of that in TV these days and Amanda Tapping is the perfect fit.

I have to say there are times when the stories are not so good, but it goes to say that you have to be really creative in trying to write new things for 6 season. So far they've done a good job, especially since they are going to do the 7th season. I hope that SG doesn't not end up peetering out and being bad in their last several seasons, i.e. Xfiles.

On my tv station they were sending out the X-Files on wednesday.
The season stopped and then they gave a commercial for a new series instead of the X-Files.
It looked cool, so I discided to have a look. And I liked it very much !

I was a huge MacGyver fan, so I searched the internet for some MacGyver and RDA sites where I found out that RDA also played in Stargate. Unfortunately, they didn't air Stargate here in Belgium at the time of my discovery so I had to wait for quite a while before I saw the first episode. And when I finaly did, I was immediately hooked on it.

Well, my dad watched it sometimes when it was on Showtime (free channel weekends), but we didn't get that channel. When SciFi started showing it, I got hooked and then I watched the movie afterwards. Now, I've got my mom hooked and I am passing on my love of SG-1 to her. LOL!
