Tec'ma'te! Pa'kree!!
Hi, hope you don't mind me butting in, I'm new so sorry if this has been asked before but does anyone know did someone actually invent this whole language or do they make up words as they need them in each episode? Just wondering, Quellshak?

Kel sha RedSky, don't know if there's a whole language or not.

Guess

I've got a pretty good guess it's evloving as the writer's go along. Much the way Klingonese did until the fans took over and 'created' the language.

So...

So who wants to be the new linguist? :D

Goa'uld Dictionary

Does anyone else want Stargate to bring out a Goa'uld Dictionary/Phrase Book like Star Trek did with the Klingon Dictionary? I would! Several months ago, I did find a website with a guide to the Goa'uld language, but I can't remember it!

As for making it up as they go along, they probably do. But I have noticed that they have used/altered a lot of words several times throughout the series. Here are some examples:

Kree: Come here, attention, do this, yoo-hoo!

Tek'Ma'Tek: I thought this meant Master, because Teal'c keeps saying it to Bra'Tac. But "The Warrior" says that it's a greeting and also has an altered version: Tek'Ma'Te.

Kal'Shak: Another greeting.

Kel: A question. As in "Kel Amonet?", as spoken by Apophis. This means "Where is Amonet?"

Kel'Nok'Shree: An exclamation. Spoken by the Tok'Ra in "Into The Fire". She said, "Kel'Nok'Shree Jaffa!" Meaning, "I am not Jaffa!"

Modifications

No, things are pretty staright forward becasue there just aren't that many words to worry about. ;) And they have a couple of people who's job it is to make sure things are fairly consistant in stuff like that.

I can't see MGM/Stargate prod. creating a publication like that. That's not their bend: they do movies/tv. If/when it does come out, it will probably be a fan inspired pub like the Klingeon dictionary was.

& the fact that it took them, what 5/6 years to release Season 2 on DVD for Canadians & Americans!
