A 'heads up' for those with a pile of dosh going spare - the Stargate prop and costume auction has opened on eBay. Proceeds to charity I believe. Tealc's pants are looking tasty......:D :D

No problem. It just comes with practice. ;)

Yippeee! Thanks Rowan. 'It comes with practice' you said so off to the testing area I went and I CAN DO IT!!! Feeling rather smug here.:coolorang

Bravo!

Bravo, Marianne! Glad you tried it. That's exactly why we've got the testing area here. :D

I can't believe I signed up & bit on something...I wann it I wann it...sniff sniff, I doubt I'll get it. I want the piece of Lego Bug...anyone used Ebay before?

e-bay...

I'm afraid so. It's a dangerous place...

Rowan

I hope by "dangerous place" you mean its rather too easy to spend more than intended, rather than, for example, its known for people hacking accounts and bidding spuriously in your name, or that PayPal has had accounts hacked and credit card numbers stolen etc...?

What I meant...

It's a dangerous place to go with money, credit cards, etc. Too easy to find wonderful stuff.

well I refurse to put a card # on the web, so I'm safe there I guess. I bid on one thing & it's going to cost me a fotune if I win...but I guess it's worth it...funny enough I don't own anything Stargate other than the S1 & S2 box sets on DVD...

e-bay

I don't use my cc on e-pay. The items I buy I either pay for with a money order, a check or paypal.

Skoon, for information, I've used eBay a lot and I find that bidding early in the auction doesn't give any guarantee of purchase, all the action starts within the last half hour of the auction, prices can rocket up and can, in some instances, get pretty wild. I've lost items at the very last minute because someone put in a higher bid and pipped me at the post. It can be really infuriating if it is something that you really want, but that's the way the game is played. Up to date I have never had anyone not stump up the goods when I've paid for them. PayPal is excellent. Hope this is helpful.:rolly2:

thanx for the info. I ws out bid over the weekend:( I really wanted it...however, I was secretly hoping someone would as I couldn't really afford it...I'd be eating 3 minute Chinese noodle soups for a month...

ebay...

I've never had anyone stiff me with any purchase. The sellers there seem to be good folks. And I've had the same situation as Marianne: nailed at the last minute. If it's something I *really* want, I've been known to lurk online the last five minutes with my finger on 'refresh'. It's helped a couple of times. I've just learned not to get my hopes too much up.

I'm afraid that 'sniping' - i.e. waiting until the very last moment before bidding - is something I'm guilty of.
Unfortunately most of the SG-1 stuff up for auction is out of my current price range.:(

hay, i can go out and get a pair of army surplus pant and sign them doesnt make them real, i guess there is a sucker born every second now adayz.

Comment

There are safeguards in place for auctions of this type, especially with a company like 'Legends'. Paul, from 'Legend' actually goes with the props and wardrobe folks through the set and collects items and has them signed.

I think we can feel confidant that the items are legitimate.
