Episode Title: Just Rewards

First, let's get the buzz of the boards out of the way. Spike is back and he's incorporeal. So apparently they've decided to go with 'Ghost-Spike' for the time being. Spike is not entirely happy about his return to the mortal coil, but is extremely happy to be annoying Angel. Just to be clear, Spike specifically references the fact that he was brought back against his will. The gist of the episode is that Angel discovers that one of Wolfram and Hart's clients has been using the firm to acquire the bodies of the recently deceased. The client is a necromancer, Hainsley, who charges demons a fee to put their essence into the human vessel.

After Hainsley kills the first messenger to pass along the news that Wolfram and Hart will no longer be his supplier, Angel goes to confront him. Spike decides to tag along, more to annoy Angel than any real desire to help. The discover that Hainsley has a showroom of dead people, from which the various demons can take their pick. When they arrive, Hainsley is with a client, and he asks his manservant to kill them. After a brief fight, Angel takes out the manservant and then gets into an argument with Spike. Angel seems to be quiet bothered by the fact that it took him nearly 100 years to deal with the guilt and remorse for all the things Angelus did, while Spike only needed a few weeks in a basement. During this argument, Spike starts to fade out and then vanishes.

Angel proceeds to take out Hainsley, only to discover that as a necromancer, Hainsley can control any non-living being. Which means that Angel can't touch him, however he doesn't want to kill Angel because Wolfram and Hart has big plans for him. Angel decides to let the firm take action, freezing his assets and having the IRS get in on the action. Not to be outdone, the necromancer decides to use Spike. He offers Spike a chance to not only get his body back, but to take Angel out at the same time. Which Spike seemingly is more than happy to do.

Not to fear, Spike has not gone evil over the summer. When Hainsley attempts to transfer Spike's essence into Angel's body later in the episode, Spike takes over Hainsley instead. This allows Angel to physically attack him, and Angel quickly dispatches Hainsley. This doesn't keep Spike from reanimating the corpse and getting in a few good swings at Angel's expense, until Angel makes sure that Hainsley's body will stay dead by decapitating him (looks to be a very amusing scene, with the head of Ghost-Spike sticking from the neck of Hainsley's body.

The casting sides for Episode 2 have begun to surface. Here's some of the details:
- Episode 2 is called Just Rewards.
- Spike is back and he is a ghost in this episode.
- During the 1st act, Spike is already there at W&H while Angel and Gunn discuss shutting down the W&H department responsible for grave robbing.
-Novac is the W&H person responsible for that department and he argues against it since it brings in big bucks for W&H and it's going to tick off a major client, Magnus Hainsley. They have to give Hainsley bodies.
- Angel tells Novac to tell Hainsley he's no longer their client while Spike makes snarky comments.
- A few scenes later, Angel and Spike are off on a road trip to Hainsley's Bel Air mansion, with Spike clearly agitating Angel. Angel wants to shut down Hainsley's demon body shop business.
- They're let into the mansion by a servant, where Spike refers himself as Angel's date.
- As they're waiting for Hainsley, they look around and see corpses on display.
- Hainsley is with a client, who's trying to pick out a body. Hainsley sends the servant to kill them. Big fight, with Spike on the sidelines making remarks.

MORE SPOILERS

FOR EP 1

Harmony, it turns out, has been hired by Wesley to work for Wolfram and Hart.

Spike, shows up in the final scene. Angel receives an envelope early on in the episode, at the end of the episode he opens it and the amulet falls out. Then Spike, on fire and in pain, appears.

Overall, I think this is pretty valid. There are a few bits here and there that don't match info that I've heard, but then again it could be changes that have been made during filming. For example, Tragic Vixen indicates that Angel actually kills Hauser with a shotgun. In my version, Hauser is about to shot Angel with a shotgun, and Angel pulls a move which essentially causes Hauser to shoot himself. A few other tweaks here and there, mainly in timing of scenes, but otherwise it matches all the previous info.

SPOILERS FOR EP 2

Episode appears to be titled 'Just Rewards'

- Gunn has shut down the W&H graverobbing division. A young lawyer named Novac informs Angel & Gunn that a major client, Hainsley, is going to be very unhappy, since W&H provides him with a supply of fresh bodies. Angel sends Novac off to tell Hainsley he's no longer a W&H client; they're not robbing graves any more. [Side note: pretty sure Hainsley kills Novac.] As he leaves, Ghost!Spike saunters in and taunts Angel about delegating the dirty work to flunkies. He even mentions what "a certain slayer" would think about all this.

- Angel goes out to Hainsley's mansion, with Ghost!Spike riding shotgun. We see Hainsley at his mansion. He puts a really ugly demon into a dead human body (remember: the demon gets your body, it doesn't get your soul.) He's got a whole house full of prettily posed corpses that Spike and Angel snark about.

- Angel sends Hainsley's manservant to interupt him. Hainsley tells the manservant to "kill them." The manservant goes at Angel and Spike with a couple of huge meat clevers, but Spike is incorporeal! The manservant and Angel fight, with Spike cheering on the manservant, calling him 'Lurch' and all sorts of hilarious stuff. Spike observes that the manservant is something more than human, but Angel manages to kill him.

- I think it's after this that Angel & Spike have a fight about their respective purposes/destinies. Angel complains about how he spent a hundred years coming to terms with "infinite remorse," while Spike just spent three weeks crazy in a basement. Angel asks "WHAT'S FAIR ABOUT THAT?" We don't have the first part of the exchange, but I figure Spike is complaining about how unfair it is that he's a ghost "stuck" to Angel.

- Angel confronts Hainsley. Hainsley muh-hah-hahs and explains his whole nasty business. He can overpower Angel b/c he's anecromancer with power over the dead. He mocks Angel for bring a ghost for back-up, and Spike doesn't give Angel any help when Hainsley starts to crush Angel. Hainsley stops short of killing Angel b/c he knows the Senior Partners have plans for him; once he's released, Angel calls Gunn and Gunn freezes all of Hainsley's assets, turns his files over to the IRS, all sorts of good-guy paperwork.

- On their way out, Spike taunts Angel about letting the IRS fight his battles for him, then he disappears (he flickers in and out at various times during scenes). Spike reappears in Hainsley's workroom. Hainsley makes Spike an offer to give him his body back if he helps him take down Angel. Spike is willing to listen. (That's the end of Act 2)

- Act 4 begins with Angel waking up tied down in Hainsley's workroom. Spike and Hainsley reveal their clever double-cross. Hainsley is gonna put Spike in Angel's body, so "Angel" will still be running W&H, but the way Hainsley wants it. Spike taunts Angel about all the fun he's gonna have in his body - the cars, the fancy digs. He mentions having a go with Fred!

BIG SPOILER HERE - YOU'VE BEEN WARNED

- As Hainsely puts Spike in Angel's body, Spike stops while he's "in" Hainsley, canceling out his necromancer powers and allowing Angel to kill Hainsley. No double cross. No Spike-in-Angel. Bad guy defeated.

New Info from Tragic Vixen's summary of 'Just Rewards'

- The episode picks up from where Episode One left off, with Spike appearing in Angel's office. Nobody realizes that he's a ghost until he makes a grab for Angel and passes through him.

- Lots of revelations early on. Fred takes some readings, and Spike does not fit what she would expect from a ghost. It appears that he's tied to the amulet. Buffy is in Europe. Some are shocked by the fact that he has a soul, while Harmony's shocked that he was with Buffy.

- Angel does wonder if Spike's fate is what Wolfram and Hart intended for him (I've been wondering about that myself.)

- The episode picks up from the previous summary here, although there is a few scenes between the first visit to Hainsley and the part where Hainsley tries to transfer Spike into Angel. In these scenes, the gang discusses Spike's fate and what to do with the amulet (Spike is there, but they don't see him). They believe that if they destroy the amulet on hallowed ground, Spike will be set free and able to move on to eternal rest. Angel wants to sleep on it before they make any decisions, and it's in his bedroom later that night that Spike appears, admits that he overheard their conversation and that Hainsley has given him a better option. At which point Hainsley takes control of Angel and the transfer process begins.

- In the end, we find out that Spike cooked up this plan when Hainsley approached him and Angel knew what was going on.

- Final scene is Spike talking to Fred, worried about his future. Apparently each time he disappears, he feels he's being pulled into hell. He wants Fred to help him (and according to Tragic Vixen, they could be playing up the chemistry between Fred and Spike)

The episode revolves around a woman, Nina, who's has been bitten by a werewolf. The episode begins with Nina waking up at home, with a strange bite mark on her arm. She lives with her sister and niece, and she wakes to them making breakfast. The scenes basically have her experienced heightened sensations and also hallucinations of violence.

At one point, during the night, Nina begins to change as the moon rises. It appears that she leaves, and eventually runs into the Fang Gang (they also seem to be looking for her in connection to a case - apparently Wolfram and Hart's psychics are performing the vision tasks that Cordy used to).

The Fang Gang finds her and takes her to Wolfram and Hart (she's in werewolf form at this time). When she wakes in the morning (in a isolation cell), they inform her about what is happening and show her video of her change. She also speaks to a Wolfram and Hart doctor, who basically explains that the lycanthrope can't be cured.

At the end of the episode, she returns to her family. It seems that in the interim, someone was trying to kill Nina and eat her. It's my speculation that there is a group of hunters, who infect people on purpose with the virus, so they can then hunt them down.

Bubonicplague posted a summary of the 5x03 sides on 08/09/03

In act two, Angel & Co. have Nina all locked up while waiting for her to turn into a werewolf. There's a character named Dr. Royce there, a "cryptozoologist". He talks for a bit on the process of turning into a werewolf. They observe her as she is pacing about in the holding cell.

Angel asks Dr. Royce what to do, and Spike pops up and says that they wait for the show. He makes some crack about it, and Angel gets annoyed, asking why Spike is there. Spike says what? He cares. Dr. Royce says that the transformation thing won't be pretty, and talks about how some werewolves injure themselves. Angel thinks they should tranquilize her. Royce says that will work for the night, but is not a good idea in the long run, and suggests familiar scents might help her. Spike gets flippant again, saying that getting her blankie isn't going to make any difference. Fred tells him he's being rude. Spike says the girl is a killer, and eventually she'll get out of the cage. Angel says no, not if she doesn't want to, but Spike ignores him and goes on about how when she's not a werewolf, she'll be dealing with all the guilt, being that she has a soul and all. Angel snips that it never seemed to bother Spike. Spike starts to say something in retort, but winks out, and Angel says he loves it when that happens.

There's a scene where Fred is grabbed violently, and some masked men capture Nina and shove her into a van. An elegant character named Jacob Crane instructs them on the phone to bring it around the back. End act two.

In act three, Nina is being chained to a wall. She's hosed down, and Jacob steps out of the shadows.

Cut back to W&H, where Royce is singing "Jessie's Girl" for Lorne. Lorne gives Angel a "he's clean" thumbs up.

Angel, Wes, Gunn, and Fred are still trying to determine who the kidnapper is. Fred thinks it's her fault.

Fred's apparently following Spike, grumbling to herself about how he slips through walls. She sees some vial that signifies to her that Royce is a bad guy. Royce stumbles in on her, and she chats aimlessly before hitting him with a lamp.

Angel grills Royce violently, asking Nina's whereabouts, while Fred, Gunn, and Wes search Royce's office. Wesley confirms that whatever was in the vial was calendula, which stopped Lorne from being able to read Royce. Gunn asks how Fred found this out, and she says that Spike led her there. Gunn finds a secret panel.

Royce is cowering on the floor, and says that he can't tell, it's a secret, this guy is not like Angel, Angel's a good guy. Angel asks if Royce wants to bet, and vamps out on him.

You can hear the screaming in the hall, as Gunn, Wes, and Fred look in horror at a knife and a piece of parchment.

They rush to Angel's office. Angel says he knows where Nina is. They show him the parchment. Apparently it's a menu.

---------------------------------------------

Nina is being rolled into a supper club. Elegantly dressed dinner guests look on and clap. She's chained to a garnished serving table, and Jacob Crane turns to the guests, and says that in a few minutes, when the moon rises, dinner will be served.
Act four:

Angel, Wes, and Gunn break in, using Dr. Royce as a front. Gunn says he enjoys kocking some guy out, even though he's all lawyerly now. Royce whines, and Gunn says he just better hope Nina is alive. Wes points out that she has to be, because werewolves revert to human when they die. (So, yeah, the people are going to eat her alive.)

Jacob spots them, fighting ensues. Angel unties Nina, and Nina says to just let them eat her. Angel tells her she's not giving up.

End of a conversation where Fred is telling Spike that she's going to find a way to bring him back, *really* bring him back. Spike looks at her for a minute, and then tells her she doesn't need to get dramatic, and composes himself.

More fighting, there's a standoff. Angel says they aren't leaving without Nina. Crane says he's willing to let his men die. More fighting, Angel gets shot, Nina transforms and breaks free. The werewolf kills a "trophy wife", and Gunn shoots it with a tranq before it can attack them.

Another standoff as one of the guards gets a gun to Gunn's head. Angel says they're taking Nina and leaving, and Crane says no, these are paying guests, and he promised them a werewolf.

The werewolf lunges up and bites Royce in the leg. Angel says to crane that in about a month, they'll have one. Crane nods and they drag Royce off as he screams.

That's it.
